Back to the gardening posts a bit...Pretty sure the labels on my pepper plans got switched since my “bell peppers” look more like scotch bonnets and this is not a jalapeno. #FreelanceFriends
Welcome to my #FreelanceFriends take over. It’s been a long hot summer for a lot of us, so instead of a scheduled topic, let’s unwind a bit with a summer open mic free-for-all.
Instead of a table runner I decided to make a throw pillow. #weaving
Finishing this behemoth is perhaps my biggest active creative accomplishment to date. Not sure how many cotton hexagons I crocheted over the course of about 10 years, but I did it! #FreelanceFriends
I'm Paula. This week I'm a writer, editor, interview scheduler, scriptwriter, and weaver. (Yep. Finally warped the loom again.) #FreelanceFriends
This not-so-little guy got inside. He explored the livingroom, but probably didn’t like the ceiling fan, so he hightail it into my office. I cranked the window open an inch or so and loosen the screen. He flew away!
Have you made a sediment blanket? You work 5 strands at once with a huge hook or needles - on the diagonal. Close up of mine.
For got to attach the photo she reluctantly let me take this morning. Had to get inter eye line and she was not happy that I interrupted her shift. #FreelanceFriends #FreelancePets
Sadie wouldn't let me take a new photo of her since she desperately needs to be brushed (again!). Since she got to see Stanley last weekend, here's a classic from one of their previous vacations... #FreelanceFriends #FreelancePets
I'm Paula. This week I'm a writer, scriptwriter, editor, scheduler, interviewer, baker, toy-finder, and plumber. Berries were on sale so I bought strawberries, raspberries, and black berries, so I had to bake buttermilk biscuits to make berry shortcakes! #FreelanceFriends
My brother made a bunch of items with that saying for family & friends who helped when Jeanne wasn’t doing well. We have glasses, t-shirts, tote bags (she loved her tote bags!), even beach towels.
Here's my first strawberry of the season..... #FreelanceFriends
A small hand-turned wooden bowl my cousin made me. It holds the microfiber cloth to clean the monitor and various little adaptors and things. #FreelanceFriends
I got my big desk at a thrift store for $45, right after my sister scoffed at the idea that I wanted to find a really cool old desk that was cheap. It BARELY fit in my brother's giant SUV and we had to take trim off the office door to squeeze it in! Added pic of the in/out box. #FreelanceFriends
Here are the photos of my vintage office! Best part is the (HEAVY) tape dispenser and stapler are family heirlooms. #FreelanceFriends
Seeing the historic (but not registered) #BriggsMansion being torn down did NOT help my BP reading at this morning's annual wellness check. #RockfordIL #historymatters
As much as I'll miss #TheLateShowWithStephenColbert, I'll truly miss the goodness he and his staff brought us night after night. In 2023 I was lucky enough to write about their #RescueDogRescue segment for @tvacademyfound.bsky.social's Emmy Magazine. Issue 8, 2023 — Rosario Dawson on the cover.
A friend is going to set a train cam on my front porch this weekend to try to find the culprit who is mining my limestone slabs on my porch. #FreelanceFriends
Any #stonemasons around who can advise on how to repel wild animals (or stray cats) from scratching the limestone slabs that have been Here for 105 years? And how to protect them from further damage?
Ironically, a new tube of the exact same brand/type/SPF that gave me that dewy glow has turned my face and neck into itchy patches and blotches. My neck the other day (slightly better now, but still have some welts). #FreelanceFriends
My hypersensitive skin never lies: either #Neutrogena changed its Ultra Sheer Dry-touch sunscreen formula or they had a bad batch. My face and neck are very itchy.
My sister gave me this antique copper boiler. With a lid—that fits! When you live in an old house, extra storage space is always appreciated!
The final result. They are softer than most store bought ones, but you can play around with ingredients. Faro would probably give it a chewier texture.
Forgot to add the photo of the finished mixture! (Honestly, it's kind of gross how much it resembles actual meat.) #FreelanceFriends
