historical statue found in a Roman catacomb dated to c.325 CE, believed to depict Jesus as a loving shepherd. The statue is carved out of pale grey polished stone, in a photorealistic classical style, and depicts a young man with no facial hair, dressed like a typical shepherd and carrying a sheep on his shoulders.

• Gatekeeping is widespread: incidents typically follow a pattern of misgendering/mistaken identity → challenge or refusal → avoidance, reported by trans people and some cis gender, gender-non-conforming women.
• Incidents of being openly challenged in public spaces increased markedly following the non-statutory interim update: frequency of incidents and the perception that they are identity-based rose after April 2025, with toilets in pubs/leisure venues featuring strongly.
• Avoidance has become routine: many respondents now avoid gendered facilities following incidents, reporting significant consequences on health, work and social participation.
• Some people are more likely to have experienced difficulties: disability/long-term condition status and more visibly gender-non- conforming presentation are linked to higher challenge rates; cis gender non-conforming/ masculine women have been misidentified and targeted regularly.
• Public messaging matters: inconsistent interpretations have been understood by many members of the public as permission to challenge people in gendered spaces if they think they shouldn’t be there. this is an absolutely gobsmacking thing for someone working in Equality and Human Rights to say. How many other personal characteristics can be defined as 'politics' that employers would rather their workers would rather 'leave at the door'?

photo taken at 6700m below the surface of the ocean by marine biologist Alan Jamieson, presumably photographed from a deep sea submersible. It shows a group of large (20-30cm long?) white giant amphipods (Alicella gigantea), a type of crustacean. The amphipods are positioned in a large cluster, looking like they are eating bait from some kind of metal pole on the sea floor. There are also two grey fish. The colours and composition of the photo make it resemble a background detail from a post-Rennaissance European oil painting.
