Inventory & Map UI/HUD: Moonlighter has a UI tailored to its systems; the inventory is a strong reference. I like the HUD’s added visual info for moves and weapons. Link’s Awakening favors simplicity: the map is fast and clear. It works, but I’d want more UI flavor for inventory.

Dialogue: Moonlighter limits portraits to main characters and leaves NPCs unnamed. I prefer dialogue and emotion bubbles appearing in-world, but I will name my NPCs. Link’s Awakening keeps dialogue simple and functional. It works, but doesn’t stand out. I’d prefer portraits in either style.

What engine are you using? From my understanding, the LDTK metadata can be used to render the auto map with squares and char location like you show. Theres a sample project called Gridvania that comes with LDTK. Maybe you could see if it canwork for your project?
