Watercolor space and science artist, geology nerd. 💜 Rocks, gems, cats, spaceflight, Sailor Moon, Star Wars. IAAA Artist. Cancer survivor. Internet dinosaur. STS-133 NASA Tweetup alum. Medford, OR. She/her. Ally. Rebel.
So I’ve been painting again. #ProjectHailMary #SciFiArt #SpaceArt These are for a group coaster show on the 17th! (Which I just realized, I’ll be out of town for, womp-WOMP.)
For my meteorite friends, available shortly in shirt form...
So here’s something I made this week, because why wouldn’t Rocky be into rocks? Available here: rckhnd.com/products/ama...
Okay I’ll bite. This is one of my favorite paintings, newly framed, of asteroid Bennu and a tiny OSIRIS-REx spacecraft headed back to Earth. (I don’t have a picture of it framed, but it’s tasteful.) planetaryartist.com/products/far... Any art sales bring me endless joy, bc so far this year: $0 😓
Whoops, it’s #PortfolioDay ! I’m Danielle and I paint and illustrate spacecraft, planets, and landscapes in watercolor and ink. Fond of ink textures and metallic touches. No A I here, just space, rockets and geology. 🪐🪨🚀 Prints and originals available at planetaryartist.com Thanks for looking!
They got Artemis a coffee and a donut. That’s so nice, it was a long day for him! #SailorMoon #ArtemisII
New painting just dropped!! HYAKUTAKE IN DREAMS, 10x8”, pearlescent watercolor on black paper w/aluminum mount. (Really!) #watercolor #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist #SciArt #comet
So if you thought I was showing up to work NOT in full regalia… you’d be wrong.
This is a tiny victory amid all the horrors [waves hands around] …but sharing because this is my first official copyright EVER, and I fuckin LOVE that @rckhnd.com‘s nerdy Jolly Rockhound is now in the Library of Congress. 😍
Okay. Help me, friends. Besides the new painting I’d have to send a progress photo of to enter, which of the following #SpaceArt should I submit to TAPS 2026? (Or suggest another one. The top two are already framed.)
I love the textures in this image so much! I painted it a few years ago, a more abstract-looking piece. #watercolor #SciArt #SpaceArt
I blew off social media lately, and for that I apologize. But I can’t let #ArtAdventCalendar pass without posting at least ONCE! So here’s something different, a photo of a lone surfer, three weeks ago during the King Tides at Cannon Beach #Oregon, just two days before all the flooding hit.
Flashing my beliefs at the office today, courtesy of @surlyamy.bsky.social 😘 (I just got a Make Art pendant as well but it matches better with my Friday scrub top.)
#SpacetoberChallenge day 22: #LunarLanding - the shadow of the #Apollo11 lunar lander, Eagle. #watercolor on handmade cotton paper. #SciArt #illustration #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist
#SpacetoberChallenge day 21: #Star - a view of Orion as seen by JWST. Pearlescent #watercolor on black paper. #SciArt #illustration #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist
#SpacetoberChallenge day 20: #Telescope - I always come back to Hubble imagery, even though newer telescopes like JWST see more clearly in other wavelengths—this was the view of the universe that inspired me. Pearlescent #watercolor on black paper. #SciArt #illustration #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist
#SpacetoberChallenge day 15: #BlackHole - one I did last year but I like how it came out (and it sure does shimmer in the light!) #SciArt #illustration #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist
Huzzah, it’s #PortfolioDay ! I’m Danielle and I paint and illustrate spacecraft, planets, and interesting landscapes in watercolor and ink. Fond of ink textures and pointillism. No AI here, just space and rocks/geology. 🪐🪨🚀 Prints and originals available at planetaryartist.com Thanks for looking!
#SpacetoberChallenge day 11: #Asteroid - FAREWELL TO BENNU, one of my favorite recent #watercolor paintings, showing the dusty surface of #Bennu with a tiny #OSIRIS-REx heading home to earth in the corner. #SciArt #illustration #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist #AstroArt #Spacetober2025 #Spacetober
Okay #geology and #space friends, I need opinions. Working on a new shirt/sticker design for @rckhnd.com . Bottom is the first text I came up with, but then I thought, NASA is built on acronyms so ROCKS should be an ACRONYM. (Maybe not the best acronym—open to suggestions.) Which do you prefer?
#SpacetoberChallenge day 6: #Constellation - just a quick rendering in pencil of my oldest celestial friend, the Big Dipper. #SciArt #illustration #SpaceArt #SpaceArtist #AstroArt #Spacetober
Human artists, use only one piece to convince people to follow you. 🚀🪐 #Art #SpaceArt #SciArt #watercolor
Still thinking about last Saturday, driving on the Oregon Coast, south of Bandon where I took the photo that inspired this painting! I don’t think I could replicate that lighting if I tried, it was one in a million conditions. 😍 #watercolor #landscape #ocean #OregonCoast #driftwood #art
Sharing some art today, a spectrum of color in Starship exhaust. Fond of how this turned out. 🌈🚀 It’s available! planetaryartist.com/products/sta...
It’s late in the day, but happy 10th birthday to the New Horizons flyby of dear Pluto! To celebrate, I made some 3.5” stickers of WE STILL LOVE YOU, my #watercolor portrait of Pluto! If you worked on New Horizons and would like one, please DM me! (If you just want one, also DM me! lol)
Important question (not really, but humor me): if I make Pluto stickers available, would people prefer regular/opaque, or *~holographic~* ? Stickers are happening, just wondering if others agree that holo-Pluto would be 🤩🤩🤩🤩
