Lately I've been doodling silly horses, and every time I open my notebook this one cracks me up
Opened up this book to find islands of text on the page. I knew it had to come home with me.
The beautiful book we launched last night from the chronic illness writing workshop is on display at the Art + Science Exhibition until 17 July. Visit the Dunedin Community Gallery, open daily until 7pm. Congrats to the writers!
If you haven't been & you're in Auckland, go have a play at the Artland exhibition at the Auckland Art Gallery. It's exuberant collaborative whimsy.
okay, the people on youraislopboresme are my kind of nerds. this is rad. i love the turn taking nature of it, too. you have to larp as ai if you want to submit prompts. genius.
Just was at the absolutely beautiful launch of Sandie Forsyth's first book of poetry, Visitor. Don't sleep on this collection—Sandie is an incredible poet, who has a tight grasp on craft and epitomizes queer joy.
I wore black pants and t-shirt with a snazzy secondhand silk jacket from the 80s.
I didn't realise the Wellington Botanic Gardens had a sculpture trail until I turned a corner and went "is that a Henry Moore?" Sure enough...
I had a great time doing the sculpting workshop at Wētā. Their staff is full of delightful, creative people. The tour was also super fun. The frilled ears got squashed in transit, but I made a lil angry aquatic dragon guy.
I'm so impressed by Wellington's airport express bus. Comfy, convenient, affordable. And now, I'm about to wash down this pizza with a Scopa hot chocolate. Life is good.
Really enjoying The Disinvent Movement by Susanna Gendall. It's surprising and fresh, with direct prose that simultaneously observes and interprets moments of a life in wonderful snippets. A light touch, clever composition, and broad emotional range.
One of the nice things about being on holiday is I have the time and energy to make nice meals for myself. Rosemary roast potatoes, green beans, green olives and spinach dressed with a squeeze of fresh lemon and olive oil, topped with feta.
My brother-in-law sent me these kiwi paint by number kits for Xmas. It's a great gift! I wonder what the quality is like, and I hope that the company licences the images they use. But I have them now, so time to paint! This one is called High Country Merinos, and I may need a magnifying glass.
Cripes, so grateful for the fire crew. It's a battle in this wind. I heard the engine honking and looked outside to this.
From a couple months back, but here are some soothing swans swimming on the lagoon.
I've got some words and pictures in the new issue of 1964. Musings on my solo Christmas adventure in Whakatāne and Becky Chambers' novel A Psalm for the Wild-Built.
While I was at the gallery, I happened upon a little surprise in the corner—a display of gorgeous Hawk Press books. ... And that's how Murray Edmond made me cry at the Christchurch Art Gallery.
Somehow found myself on the winning team again at the second annual University Book Store Book Quiz at Adjø. Somehow found myself on a team of wonderful, knowledgeable strangers.
