Slow 3d modeller 23 Portfolio Commissions
anotha wiiiip I dont know what this creature is but its a fun design with many a morph no idea how its gonna be when i rig it
hai oog :3 the scales on the torso and neck were placed by hand, and for the scales on the back i had to redo them like 6 times but i went with like, 2 scales in a brick offset pattern, and then used an array with a circle curve, and then used an array on the y axis, and then applied that and change
finally posting that vrchat avatar for @ladderz.bsky.social definitely my most complicated model to date and I learnt a lot from making it, she was super lovely to work with as well!
today ive been working on something i cant show for a different model, but something i did before that is textures for this guy, though i need to redo the hair and ears bc theyre bugging me, the hair is really bugging me, im planning to redo it some point this week
what i normally tend 2 do is use the median vert position and make sure thats zero, altho sometimes that doesnt work great because its median and not average - so sometimes move the mirror plane vertices aside, and then scale x 0, then scale them with the 3d cursor
it got automatically labelled as suggestive which is annoying but the body is just copied from another model and then edited to have more muscle, the head/hair/shoulders is more what I was focusing on
its basic but im proud of the crown, ive started getting the hang of using modifiers a lot more to help with harder geometry things - it wouldve been annoying to model it curved so i just modeled it flat and then curved it with a modifer, yes its lazy, no i dont care im undercharging anyways
Something that ive always wanted to try that I see a lot of games doing is using vertex colours that have hues and saturation on them to add a lot of vibrancy a lot of games also use it to break up the monotony for larger areas (oot did it a lot to add hue variation to grass and its funky)
well i have seen that method with a inverted mouth pocket, and then the textures used to clip out the geometry - actually megaman legends uses it too it only rly works because they use flat shading though, and i imagine they layer the teeth as their own plane too
models for the month - getting a bit more comfortable with texturing i think idk
it was pretty basic, just a beat-em-up, it was a project that kinda ended because i didnt know how to make models or animate at the time, its the project that made me learn 3d modelling the story was gay cowboys fighting cryptids and then aliens but like it was more jojo inspired [I didnt finish it]
If i had to choose my best 4[finished] models of late(imo?)it'd be these ones, at least these are the ones I most consistently look back at and am happy with / i wouldnt go back and redo as much
something that i [eventually] wanna use my printer for, and hopefully you can get a lot of use out of this too, is that theyre really good at making moulds! I havent tried it but ive seen ppl use them as plaster moulds- I have personally made clay push moulds that worked okay for basic doll heads!
good for fursuit parts, larger art-doll skeletons - I tried to use printer for ~8in figs - didnt go too well bc details :( my main advice is that the bigger and rounder the shapes are (and more u subdivide the model, more polies) the better! printers struggles with sharp turns (filament bunches up)
oh, just like, for art! like a drawing but its a render of a scene - I used to do them a lot when i started out, like these I did ages ago! I'd like to use them for concept arts stuff I think I got confused and forgot which post this was under so started talking abt unrelated things @@ my bad fdsf
I like being able to do segmented limbs, or if there is parts that bend theyre ok to look tubeish i like doing robots in theory, not so much a fan of hands, because theyre easier to rig when theyre non-segmented (this is another i had to refund bc burnout depress, i'll come back and finish some day)
you can do a lot of details with box subdivision modelling that most people will tell you to sculpt or use simulations for, and maybe i shouldve idk - mostly just happy that shes under 70k tris so would technically still get a medium avatar ranking
beep borp i am from da year twenty zenventy zeven where da lettar s has been replazed by a z see look i can do more than just furries i make da robbit too
made carrot juice, not so good, but used the pulp to make carrot bread tho which was nice! I also made wheat paste glue for the first time and used it to make paper clay, and i used that to make a mushroom. Also finally got a picture of the possum that sneaks into my bedroom sometimes
Last of the raffle models, @r0tteny0te.bsky.social's demon girl Julia! Another good refresher on textures with low poly. She was a very fun model to work on! #lowpoly #3dart
Second of the raffle models, @tankdragon.bsky.social's very beefy Captain Arkos - very cool design to work with, and I managed to get a bit of a refresher on texturing with this one #lowpoly #3dart #scalieart #furryart
First of the raffle models, @bobzorz.bsky.social's fatherly opossum. A deformed little creature - very fun to model though!! This one was done up as a vtuber model instead of for vrchat, so I got to do a few zany expressions too #lowpoly #3dart #furryart
