In Raiders of the Lost Ark, Ronald Lacey didn’t know his face was going to melt and his reaction is genuine. I love learning film trivia on social media!

I misread the headline as one movie and got very excited for a moment…
I recently tripped and fell while running. I mentioned this in a WhatsApp conversation and joked that I’m too old to run at 45. Now I’m getting ads like this…
I guess I should have read the measurements and not just looked at the picture…
The last three Spanish films I’ve seen; The Coffee Table, Kidnapped, and Cell 211 have all been so incredibly bleak. Spain are you ok?
Most disturbing film watched: Kidnapped (2010). Brutal and bleak watch. Some impressive technical feats like the long unbroken takes and a head smash that almost rivals Irreversible. But man, you just feel bad after watching.
A few new to me films that I enjoyed: Trouble in Paradise (1932) The Sea Wolf (1941) Brief Encounter (1945) The Best Years of Our Lives (1946) The Fallen Idol (1948) The Children’s Hour (1961) The Servant (1963) Seven Days in May (1964) Gambit (1966) The Incident (1967) The Chaser (2008) 71 (2014)
I guess YouTube has a yearly recap now too. Also, everyone should be watching Taskmaster.
Saw a familiar joke in ’After the Thin Man’ and went down a rabbit hole of finding the earliest filmed version. Walk this Way:
Shot a 2 min short on Super8 with @lottalosten.bsky.social while we were in Sweden. Shot on Kodak Vision 3 50D with a Canon 814XL-S camera.
When you record a long YouTube video and don’t notice that the overhead mic is slowly sagging into frame so you have to reshoot it… 😞
Many times I’ve gotten these on the first try but yesterday I didn’t… 😳 (You only see a little bit of the image at first and more is revealed with each guess)
I’m an OG YouTuber. My channel is almost as old as YouTube itself 😎
I found what appears to be a production still where you can see there’s no background in the mirror, only black, so it was probably done because there was no set back there.
Very puzzled by this bit in ”The Spiral Staircase”. She’s standing in front of a mirror but in the wide shots it’s clearly not a mirror but a flat picture (without her reflection). Very obvious when camera moves. What could be the reason for this?
If you didn’t get that Bogart is evil in ”The Petrified Forest” the way they frame him against the background may give some subtle hints…

The thing about mixing sound on a great stage is that you know you’ll never hear the movie sounding this good again.
Lately I’ve tried to write down my dreams when I wake up in the middle of the night. I don’t want to forget any potentially brilliant ideas when I go back to sleep. Here’s my note from last night:
Wait, Andrew Keir turned 41 years old while shooting Quatermass and the Pit?! Professor Quatermass is a year YOUNGER than me? But he’s an old man. Oh no…
