Lovely day at eddfest yesterday. My final maiden gig for a while. True to the absent minded prof trope, I managed to be unaware of the @impq.bsky.social Meetup, but bumped into them anyway. A marvellous surprise!
The press want you to believe there are violent protests in Brighton today. Counter protesters outnumbered the Fascists by many thousands. We sang, danced, and waved inflatable bananas and hearts in the name of tolerance and diversity. Fascists not welcome in Brighton.
Publication date looms ever closer ... physical copies exist (at the @sagepub.com London office, I await my own copy with excitement).
Very different to last weekend’s musical experience but Courtney Marie Andrews was amazing in Brighton tonight. Great setlist too!❤️
It came with a colouring book. I used to have a toy of this guy and remember crying my eyes out in a cinema as a kid when his battered buddy was destroyed.
A little part of a childhood dream just got full filled, which seems appropriate given the themes in the lyrics.
Stupidly excited to get my copy of this … thanks @darrenhayman.bsky.social
Excited to participate in 'Book Publication as a Scholarly Activity for Statisticians ...' @ 11.30 on Thurs 4 Sept @royalstatsoc.bsky.social conference with Margaret MacDougall, @nrennie.bsky.social and Rhys Jones. We'll be sharing publication experiences & answering Q's! @rss-teach.bsky.social
Many of ‘my lot’ will be dusting off their sabbath albums today, but I’m going for this, which came out when I was 13 and I think is a brilliant album. Transports me back in time to a really exciting time in metal music.
Well, that’s my plan for the day fucked. Looks like I won’t be screaming for Glasgow tonight. I tried to do a mini tour with iron maiden over the last 10 days, here’s my travel experiences.
Scream for me Manchester … for me, better than last night in Birmingham.
Quote a record that you found in your parents’ collection when you were young
Not content with making possibly my album of the year, deafheaven have just blown my mind. Incredible. Haven’t seen them for 7 years, forgot what an intense experience it is.
@impq.bsky.social for the avoidance of doubt … of course I have a first edition!
Author copy arrived yesterday. It really was a joy working with @ejwagenmakers.bsky.social and Johnny (is he on here?) on this @jaspstats.bsky.social version of the book.
@impq.bsky.social is it heresy that I think this album is pretty decent? It ain’t powerslave, but it shits on fear of the dark. This is the worst album cover by a mile though - worse than dance of death. It looks like GCSE art coursework.
