Meat and dairy industry communications have been explored in two very recent, interesting papers (figures from each below). TLDR: it's the same old story. 🧵

We have dramatically underestimated the impacts of climate change over time. This is the "burning embers" risk plot for large-scale discontinuities (tipping points), as assessed across IPCC reports from 2001 to 2022. What was once thought to require above 5°C is now assessed at close to 2°C.

The trajectory of emissions based on statistical persistence (nerdy explanation: the second derivative of emissions stays the same). We have moved off the worst-case trajectories, but the central projection still tracks around 2.7°C. But...

Ah yes, see attached! Trend-wise we can safely assume difficult years ahead due to climate as the crop/climate modelling shows. Open question is when we'll start to see that in the overall figures. Stagnation is also a sign of impacts as all other things being equal we'd expect some increases.
