Previews, reviews, and playthroughs of soloable board games both new and old (though to be honest, mostly new...)

Had a bit of fun with Uniqlo's make your own T-shirt app!
Had a gift card to the Button Shy store from last Black Friday, and was in the area, so used it as an opportunity to finally grab a copy of Vivo!
Also been playing a bunch of the prototype of the upcoming set collection, building game, Rainbow Blvd, in prep for a video!
New game on the review pile from Asmodee, Ninjago: Destiny's Bounty Adventures. It's a co-op crisis management game with six increasingly difficult scenarios. Very cool that as you level up in a scenario, you add weapons and accessories to your Lego figure!
Got my new copy of Trifle to the table today with my son, as his introduction to trick taking. It's a very simple may follow game, where you're scoring the value of the cards you win in your tricks, with the twist that the highest card, the Q, is not a number so is worth 0.
My son started asking to get Castle Panic back to the table this week, playing today with the Engines of War expansion, pulling out a super tight win with only a single tower and two walls left!
Played my first game of Walking in Kamogawa from Emperor S4. The rules are a bit rough (the Japanese rules are a bit better), but it's a pretty fun tile laying, set collection game with some interesting scoring mechanisms, that also seems to play pretty well solo!
Been playing a bunch of Ringyo, the upcoming game from @paverson.bsky.social, in prep for a video, and finally pulled off a win against the AI today! Really enjoying the sort of worker placement/resource management feel of the game so far, and it seems to offer a great challenge.
Surprise package today, gonna likely need to wait until late summer/early fall to get to, but super excited about these!!
Finally got my Tokyo Game Market haul today, excited to dig into these!
Got Civolution back to the table today in preparation for recording (hopefully tomorrow), and I still really love this game. But I'm definitely not good at it. Lost by one point this time, 196-197, against the beginner level AI...
Finished out the night tonight with a few more plays of Doom Cat and finally pulled off a win! Had mistakenly read the solo win as 70 points, when it's actually 70 points PER CARD...whoops. Still digging the fun twist on a drawing/spatial puzzler roll and write.
Been playing a bunch of Tend since I got it last week, and while I don't love the lack of win condition in solo, I'm really enjoying the mechanics of the game. I also love the only web app and how there are solo challenges in the book using that. Video coming soon!
Been getting back into Sagrada lately, so couldn't pass this up when I saw it for half price and then also realized I could use my $10 Shop credit on it as well! Curious to see what a legacy, coloring book version of Sagrada is like.
Got Adamastor back to the table today for a play in prep for a video and then again as a recorded playthrough. Managed to win in the first play and was kicking myself that I didn't record, but then managed to pull off another win on camera!
Got Gift Craft to the table for a solo play, and enjoying what I've seen so far. It's a very quick pick and pass closed drafting game where you draft six cards to build up resources to make a stuffie and score as many points as possible.
Picked up some new games in a trade! Very excited to finally own a copy of Glow and have been wanting to add at least one game with OBOtto art to my collection, so Gift Craft was a great place to start!
Played another game of @horribleguild.bsky.social Railroad Tiles: Canals today to refresh before finishing up my video on it. Still really enjoying this game and the variation the expansions add!
First game of Doom Cat in the books, and another Charming Games Collective game that I really enjoy! The drawing of the sigils is a pretty fun and unique twist on what is a very simple roll and write mechanism, and working to maximize goal scoring is a great puzzle. Excited about all the goals!
Immediately got Otter to the table with my son after it came. Multiplayer is a shedding game. You need to get rid of all of your cards to win the round and then you play a different number of rounds depending on player count.
Some new small games added to the review pile, excited to finally have some games from Charming Games Collective!
Also got Endangered back to the table today, finally trying out the Otter scenario. Still really enjoying this one quite a bit, and was happy to see how different the otters made the game feel. Think I'll likely need to track down more animals for this one at some point.
Printed out the PNP and got in a few solo games of the new Dylan Coyle game (Other, Park Life) now on crowdfunding. Clever little mathematical puzzle that feels like a classic solitaire game, nice way to get the gears in my brain spinning. Still can't win, down to two piles several times...
Also tried my first game of Inkwell solo today. Very Azul-esque in the drafting everything from a single location and filling in your board, but with some interesting twists. Will have to play more to decide how much I like it solo, but interesting so far.
Played my first game of Railroad Tiles with the Canal expansion, and still really enjoying this game! Like the other expansions, nothing mind blowing, but interesting twists on the core gameplay, and even better more special tiles and solo goals to add more variability!
Got in three games of Aetherspire today, and gotta say I'm really digging what I've seen so far. It's a fun crisis management co-op with a bunch of randomness that pushes turn by turn tactical decisions, but with a variety of different ways to mitigate that randomness with variable player powers.
The other new play was Tea Garden, the last of the new Tomas Holek games I had yet to try, and I've been very excited to finally do so, but was waiting for the Puerh expansion for the solo mode. Only played with the base game stuff for now, but really digging it so far!
