After 12 h WL+FR, GID1C-GUS accumulates in hypocotyl and root tip. GID1A and GID1B are unchanged. GID1C Transcript does not follow the GUS signal accumulation, and the GPS1 sensor (@xanderjones.bsky.social) shows no rise in bioactive GA — though it reports applied GA. Sensitivity, not supply.
Single and double mutants, each against its own wild-type background (Col-0 or Nossen). 𝑔𝑖𝑑1𝑎 is almost identical to the wild type. 𝑔𝑖𝑑1𝑏 is short under both light conditions. Only 𝑔𝑖𝑑1𝑐 shows a deficit specific to WL+FR. 𝑔𝑖𝑑1𝑐 complementation with 𝑝𝐺𝐼𝐷1𝐶:𝐺𝐼𝐷1𝐶-𝑚𝐶𝑖𝑡𝑟𝑖𝑛𝑒 restores the response.
Leaves absorb red and reflect far-red, so a close neighbour enriches the spectrum in far-red. Phytochrome B detects this; the plant elongates. Gibberellin is required. Its three receptors are not interchangeable — only one responds to far-red. A preprint thread: tinyurl.com/y5jyy9zc 🌱
