🚨 Tonight, the RI House passed 65-0 our Crash Data Reform legislation championed by @rebeccakislak.bsky.social, a major milestone advancing us one step closer to bringing Rhode Island in line with a vast majority of other states who make traffic crash data available to the public. 🧵

✅ We can now look forward to having a RIPTA board chair who doesn't have major conflicts of interest, as the RIDOT Director will be removed as the board chair.

✅There is also $15 million for bus shelters and improvements over 5 years. Bus shelters across the state are in disrepair, not to mention 90% of stops, about 3,000 in all have no shelter at all!

East Providence is committed to achieving significant reductions in roadway fatalities and serious injuries.
This Safety Action Plan reflects a shared commitment to creating a safer, more accessible transportation network for all road users. The primary goals of this SAP are to:
Achieve zero roadway fatalities and serious injuries by 2045
• Reduce fatal and serious injury crashes by 75 percent by 2035
• Reduce fatal and serious injury crashes on roadways under the city's jurisdiction by 50 percent by 2030

EAST PROVIDENCE - On Wednesday, May 13, Mayor Bob DaSilva signed Executive Order 2026-001 establishing the Mayor's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee to improve bicycle and pedestrian transportation throughout the city.
The new committee known as MBPAC will serve in an advisory capacity to consult the Office of the Mayor and other members of the administration, offering input on bicycle and pedestrian transportation issues, helping guide policy, and elevating community priorities. It will maintain strong connections to broader planning efforts such as the City's Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan, Safe Streets for All initiatives, Comprehensive Plan, and Vision Zero goals. The Committee is empowered to work with and through the Planning Department and other municipal offices in order to accomplish any work deemed necessary.
The Committee shall consist of 7 residents of the City of East Providence who reflect the diversity and the various neighborhoods of the City and shall meet on a quarterly basis.
