Work in progress. This has been a beast of a painting to work on. Pushing myself out of my usual small works, thinking about space and interiority. So many drawing corrections (and more to go). But I'm loving where it's going. Oil on linen, 91.5x61cm
Think this one is done now. I'll sit with it for a week or two and see if future me agrees. 12x16, oil on linen. Starting July I'll have much more time to paint: resigned at long last.

Two colour practice. Blue/orange only (+white). Not bad for 30 mins. Some things need fixing, but that is for the second attempt
More idle doodling as I kill time. Somewhere between scribbles and something worth finishing. should be a painting instead. There is an idea here, I think.
On the train to visit family. Long hours of nothing but a sketchbook and music to keep me company. Time to explore ideas
I was supposed to be doing other things. But here we are. This feels like it could be a larger piece at some point.
Perhaps this would be of interest. A much larger composition that I'm slowly picking away at. "Another Theseus. Today. Again". I've been enjoying building up the layers of the 'flat' walls and exploring visual slight of hand. This is what I get up to when not madly sketching models

I don't normally do special requests, but here we are. "portrait" practice I suppose. Work in progress. An interesting challenge, pushing me to really think about surfaces, shapes and reflections. Probably a few weeks out from being finished. For now it rests while i do a bit of travel
Let's post this here. As I think about what to write here, the phrase "A backlog of promises" comes to mind. I'll squirrel that away to title a painting at some point. A quick sketch from Sunday, to motivate me to dig into the paintings I promised to make.
