these were my final stats. i feel like an insane man for doing it but i feel good as hell
Super Meat Boy (2010) As a baby boy I never got super far in this game because I always tried to 100% it and got filtered repeatedly, but now I am a true Meat Boy and could finally do it. Game rocks, physics feel so satisfying and nearly every level is fun to learn. Light peak.
Rock Band 3 (2010) Innovative, huge, and endlessly fun. The campaign is a bit underwhelming, but as a pick up and play party/rhythm game this is as good as it gets. Thank you for a lovely year of college gaming Rock Band. High peak, if not stars.
Shadow of the Colossus (2005) I think some inbetween segments are pretty drawn out and not all of these beasts are that fun to fight, but what's good is GOOD. They get so much out of these weird mechanics and the sense of scale here is absolutely incredible. Peak.
Universal Basic Guys - S1 (2024) I thought it was pretty funny. High rolling hills.
Rear Window (1954) A mystery that keeps you guessing, shot incredibly and in such a unique way, excellently built tension, just a phenomenal film all around. I have nothing new to add. High peak.
you ever see a huge line of a game returned and go "wow, sure am glad i didn't buy that"
SOMEONE UPLOADED MY GIF ON KLIPY AND CALLED *MY* GIANT BREADBUG A "CARTOON FROG"
i spent so long deciding if i just wanted my goat mary or if i should get the full set and when i finally braved up she was gone... i have been put through mental anguish.
First impression after finishing, these are my favorite and least favorite games in Groove.
Rock Band 2 (2008) More of the same really, except a bit more refined and thankfully with a MUCH larger tracklist that makes the campaign feel a lot less padded. Rock Band is just the ideal co-op game man, had such a good time here. Peak.
VVVVVV (2010) This was an awesome little lunchbreak. Really fun gimmick that makes every platforming challenge also into a puzzle, and it still finds a way to fit it into new level ideas repetedly. Banger soundtrack too. Light peak to high clouds.
Braid (2008) Really interesting and creative puzzles and a story that I think has some interesting subtext to it. All the Mario parody stuff is dated and annoying, but the environments and music are quite pretty at least. Light clouds to high plateau.
Garou: Mark of the Wolves (1999) Possibly expected from skipping six games ahead, this is an excellent fighting game! Some of the best sprite animation I've ever seen and the new roster here is great, I also love how vast the defensive options are here. Peak.
Fatal Fury Special (1992-1993) This was a cozy little time even if it's nothing special. Some of the mechanics here are still a bit questionable but honestly you can kinda ignore them and just have fun fighting. Which is good I think? High rolling hills to light plateau.
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- Sweep The Board! (2024) This is the the worst party game I've ever played. The gimmick of the game is that you never play minigames and when you do it's the same two over & over again, all on purpose. Everything also takes comically long. Abyss.
Oldboy (2003) Putting "watching that YMS video years ago and getting spoiled on this movie" on my list of biggest life regrets because going into this knowing nothing must be a lifechanging experience. Absolutely incredible film. Stars.
Now that I've finally replayed Pikmin 4 I made my own little areas tier list.
Annie Hall (1977) Has some hilarious jokes and memorable moments but I feel like the actual development of the couple (especially on the protagonist's end) is undercooked, makes the emotional ending feel like it came out of nowhere. Mainly was just here for the laughs. Plateau.
Rocky (1976) Always engaging and at times powerful, but I think the character relationships could've used some better work, especially with all of the drama going on here. I still had a good time though. High plateau
The Sixth Sense (1999) This movie, like, really defines the idea of an excellent twist. A lot of this film can feel a little bit unfocused, but in the last few minutes it just ties a neat bow on everything and I love that. Good movie. Light clouds.
Fatal Fury: King of Fighters (1991) Very clunky & slow fighting game. Not a lot of characters and arcade mode is bad like it normally is in this era of fighting games, but that's important this time since versus forces you to fight AI every now and then. I don't get it. Valley.
The Godfather Part II (1974) I thought this one was a little slow-paced and at times maybe a little bit dull compared to the original, but yeah the best stuff here is just absolutely incredible. Every way they highlight Michael's development is great. A light clouds.
Rock Band (2007) Played on bass. Great tracklist and one of the best co-op experiences you can have, the feel of taking your dumb little band to the top of the world is amazing. Unfortunately though, there's a lot of padding in the campaign and a lack of QoL. High clouds.
The Great Muppet Caper (1981) Eh, kind of a letdown after the original. Some great gags and songs here and still a lot of charm, but the movie itself feels a bit undercooked. It's very slow-paced and it feels like the plot doesn't get going until over an hour in. Rolling hills.
