I take photos of bands sometimes and collect music. I’m going to try to post about Icelandic bands I dig. I’m also in the process of archiving a stack of the old Icelandic magazine Undirtonar. You can see photos and the archive at Ragnaarb.com
It’s been 25 years or so since I’ve been there but now Annexy seems to come up a lot more often. I’m cleaning out stuff at my folks home and I found a box of photos from that trip. The hiking was incredible and views outstanding. The couple were my host family.
One of my favorite pieces of art I own. My friend who had never painted before drunkenly made this at 3 in the morning while looking out the Delancey St. window. Our art friend was so mad she did so well he put the orange rainbow above it. I love the painting and I love the history.
Apparently in a Lyft driver now. Hang tight little dude I’ll get you where you’re going.
There’s a guy up in Maine, is always a great way to start a story. There’s a guy up in Maine who has a place make him Icelandic Hotdogs. His outfit is called Gunnar’s dogs, and he sold me a 5lb package of them.
I did/do concert photography for the love of it. And I’ve sold a few for charity but never really taken money before. This is one of 2 photos I’ve done that I’ve been sent a photo of a pic framed and hanging in a home. Absolutely humbled by both folks. Ceasetone is in the photo.
Megas was an incredible wordsmith. I was lucky enough to see him at Airwaves a long time ago and snapped a few photos, like this one. Now playing: Megas
WH Auden’s Funeral Blues put to music by Kristjana Stefáns, Svavar Knútur & Emily Hope Price. Performed by Kristjana & Svavar, w/ Svava Rúnars & Kristbjörg Ásta helping out. At Fríkirkjan Reykjavik for Kristjana & Svavar’s 15th anniv. tour. I filmed it, & tripped, sorry for the mid-vid earthquake.
Always fun at my folk’s shop. Only a couple of weeks until I get to see my car… I mean my parents again.
Can someone tell me what’s up with the half worn out mural at Fríkirkjan? I was sitting in the back and to me it looks like a raven rubbed a genie lamp and Jesus appeared. It looks like the white space has been painted, why haven’t they fixed the mural?
Midnight in Reykjavik. It’s rare there’s nobody around so grabbed a quick pic. Also snagged one in an alley way as well.
I mean, I’m not saying Dr. Gunni was my welcoming committee, if I’m also not NOT saying it. I love that you can show up to Iceland for any reason and always be assured there is music around.
My mom used to race this out on the Bonneville Salt flats. I bought it a few years ago and redid the interior. Now to rebuild the 455. Although sometimes I’m really tempted to make it electric.
This poor rose was just a twig, we nurtured it and it became a couple twigs, then the rabbits came and ate some twigs, now it’s just a twig, but it bloomed. Going to make a steel mesh case for it so the rabbits don’t get it this year.
My old apartment was barely 1k square ft. But I loved the entrance to my office/guest room/storage. Art by Claire Tabouret for an Alex Somers score, with Grace Jones. One of two vinyl albums I have worn out so I made the picture from the sleeve and some cloth I had.
One of the best things I’ve ever done with my label is help this band put out a record. They did all the work I just tossed in money. Such an uplifting dance record made by two awesome humans. Milkywhale is the band. milkywhalemusic.bandcamp.com/album/milkyw...
We did the PAC Coast road trip. We drove massive amounts of miles, never ending up at our destination before sunset. But one day we did, and this is the glory I got to witness. Then I tried to steal my SO’s French fries and he guarded them with his life. That’s another story.
@manmademoon.bsky.social happy Birthday. This is George, my birthday greeter. I was looking for Weird Al’s Accordion vinyl box set and he kept coming up. Now he hangs out wishing people happy birthday.
What I thought was just a patch of moss quickly became NOT a patch of moss. I think they’re Orb spiders, a lot of Orb spiders. I marked the photo graphic in the event you’re not a fan, but if you’re curious you can take a look.
