Walking up to the Brandenburg gate from the west means I had to cross the Berlin wall towards the east. However, the gate itself was in the restricted zone, where neither west nor east could have gotten to. Sometimes it's called the "Death Strip"

Having my whole family come surprise me for my birthday was incredible! Having them all in one place was a miracle in itself but having them all fly out to MY home?! That's next level. Today is my actual birthday but having them here for a whole weekend was absolutely magical! ❤️🐶

From the top of a mountain with my best friend, to traveling the world to play mahjong, to being with friends and family around the holidays, I feel grateful. If you would have asked me a few years ago where I'd be now? I would have NEVER guessed this. I love you guys! 🐶❤️

Death carefully turns with the Rottweiler still in his arms. He gently places the Rottweiler back into his chair. The Rottweiler sit in the chain, slumped over, yet peaceful. The burning candle he had been sitting next to before they had started their dance has burned out and only a faint smoke is left rising from it's wick.

Death's voice is heard but he is now nowhere to be seen: "Farewell, mi amigo."

End.

Death wraps his arms back around the Rottweiler in a warm embrace. The warm light around them seems to bath them in light. The moment is tender and honest. Death seems to even smile with his eyes. Before he knows it however, The Rottweiler has gone limp in his embrace. His body and his arms also drape over the wolf. As Death feels this change, he holds onto the Rottweiler a bit tighter, not quite ready to let go. He opens his eyes and his ears pin further back. The sadness is painted on his face. The warm light around them seems to be gone.

Death starts to lead the Rottweiler back to his seat.

Inner thoughts: "I hope this gift will last. That maybe, in our time together, he found some joy. I hope... My life may be infinitely shorter than his... but even so... He deserves to have a spark of happiness that will last as long as he does..."

Rottweiler pulls at Death's arm, causing him to stop.

Rottweiler: "Wait..."

Inner thoughts: "It's all I have left to give him..."

The Rottweiler wraps his arms around Death in a warm embrace. Death seems once again caught off guard. His eyes wide and full of surprise. Death's expression relaxes into a more heart felt one with a mix of warmth and solemnness.

The two dance together with a tender air about them. The Rottweiler seems to be struggling with his strength a bit.

Inner thoughts: "For a fleeting moment, it felt like we could have danced all night. If we could have lived forever… we would have lived forever in that one night. But forever had to end. My legs gave out—twice—as my strength began to fade. Each time however, He was there to catch me and hold me upright again... His strength became my strength... And before I knew it... Our dance came to an end..."

The dance has ended and they stand in the middle of the dance floor, stall holding their posture and hands.

Inner thoughts as the two dance: "He swayed with a gentle motion. I could feel the passion inside him—like he had so much to give, but not enough time to give it. Perhaps forever wouldn't have been enough for him."

The Rottweiler rests his head on Death's Shoulder.

Rottweiler: "I hope I'm not too warm for you.."
Death: "No... you’re not too warm at all. In fact, it’s quite nice."

Inner thoughts: "More than anything, I wanted him to feel just as comfortable as I did."

Death's expression seems to express a touch of sadness in this moment.

Rottweiler: "You may lead this dance, if that is what you wish."
Inner thoughts: "He doesn't need to give me an answer in words. Some truths don’t need to be spoken. They pass between palms. He could tell me everything... With just his touch.."

Death Leads the Rottweiler onto the dance floor.

Inner thoughts: "This helps us both, doesn’t it? Maybe—for the first time—he can embrace his role and find joy in it. And me? I get to give him something he’s never known before. A real gift. Has it always been this way for him? Was he born into it… or did he used to be someone like me? Did he choose this? I can feel myself fading. But I have to keep going—if this is for him, I have to give it everything. Every last bit of strength I have left. Till my very last breath... His touch... It was cold. Not empty—just ancient. A cold that carried warmth inside it, if you let it. The kind of warmth you only feel when you’re freezing."

The two stare at each other with soft expressions.

Death looks at the Rottweiler with a look of shock and surprise. This expression relaxes before he speaks again.

Death: "You don't have to do this. Once this dance begins, there's no going back."

Inner thoughts: "I'm prepared for this. This is my decision. If I am to leave, I wish to be valuable to someone. I want to depart with the knowledge that I offered them something unique, something unprecedented. It matters to me that I've made a positive impact in someone’s life."

Rottweiler: "I’m guessing you’ve never had the chance to dance with someone before.
I’m offering you that chance now."

Rottweiler: "It must get lonely... Not being able to touch anyone... Never sharing a hug or embrace... People are probably scared of you when they know who you are."

Death looks a bit caught off guard with this comment.

Death: "You're right. It can be very lonely. I can't touch anyone or form real relationships. I'll never know the warmth of someone's fur or the love of another. People either fear me or try to run from me. It's a burden, but it's the burden I must bear."

The Rottweiler stares at death with a soft expression. Death's gaze is fixed on the dace floor.

The Rottweiler stands from his chair, taking a step into the dance floor.

Inner thoughts: "If this is the end... I want it to be mine."

The Rottweiler and Death are staring out at the dance floor, both have a plain expression on their faces. The Rottweiler turns in his chair to look at Death. Death feels his gaze and tilts his head just enough for his eyes to look back at the Rottweiler.

The Rottweiler looks down at the floor, sitting in his chair with it's back against the walls of the ballroom. Death is looking at him with his arms crossed. He is leaned against the same wall in a bit of a relaxed and closed off stance.

Death: "...But I want you to understand something. I don't do it because I'm evil or malicious. I do it because it's my purpose. It's my job."
Rottweiler: "I never thought of death as evil or malicious... it just is..."

We are shown a view of the dance floor.

White Wolf: "You never answered my question, Amigo. You look like you've seen better days."
Rottweiler puts down his drink.
Rottweiler: "I've been through it. Times are tough and days are lengthy... Most days, joy feels out of reach..."
Inner thoughts: "I need to change the subject again before I get emotional. I can feel a lump in my throat."
Rottweiler: "Is it true? When you touch people, I mean. Do they really start to die? That's your thing...right, death?"
Death The white wolf: "Yes, it's true. I am the one who takes the souls of the dead and the living. I bring an end to life's journey."

Death looks over at the Rottweiler.

White Wolf: "I can tell. A man can never pass up drinks, can he?...What's got you down, amigo? You look like you've got the weight of the world on your shoulders."

Rottweiler: "I..."
Inner thoughts: "I don't know why, but I find it incredibly difficult to discuss the struggles I've faced over the last two years. I don’t have much to lose by being honest. Still, the thought of exposing this vulnerability unsettles me. My emotions are already spinning—maybe it’s best to change the subject before they take over."

Rottweiler: "I know who you are..."

The Rottweiler looks down at his drink on the chair next to him.
"He hadn’t changed. Still dressed in finality, still carrying eternity in his eyes."

He looks away from his drink and at the floor.
"There was something comforting about his presence—unmoving, unchanging. Like the end of a song you've heard all your life."

Rottweiler speaks: "You look good too..."
His thoughts: "I knew what he was. But for a moment, I only saw an old friend in a suit."

About a month ago, I had a pretty intense dream. This comic is based on that dream that I had. As my first comic, I had a lot of fun making this!

A comic with a Rottweiler dressed in a black and white formal attire. Inner speech boxes from the Rottweiler say the following.
"It’s been a challenging two years; life hasn’t treated me kindly. I performed my duties diligently and received an invitation to a lavish gathering at the mayor's residence. Unsure of my reasons, I nonetheless decided to attend the event. Before long, that eerie whistle echoed in my mind. The melody felt as if it resonated through the air around me—a familiar yet unsettling sound. A wave of tranquility almost enveloped me. The void beside me was abruptly filled by someone I could almost label as an old acquaintance. His gaze consistently unsettled me. Though I didn't fear him, his presence left me in awe. Clad in his finest attire, he looked just like every other guest at tonight's event."

A white wolf with red eyes speaks, saying : "If it isn't the Rottweiler himself. Fancy seeing you here in this fancy gathering. I must say, you clean up nice, Amigo."

Rottweiler: "Thanks. I just came for the drinks
...mostly."
