Spikes of red Penstemon flowers jam out at 9,700 ft of altitude. Flowering goldenrod grows at the base. Bristlecone pine trees can be seen in the distance, on a cloudy horizon. The red and the yellow really compliment the golden tones in the burnished grass growing all over everything in long form, complete with seed heads.
