Jak’s World Charity does vital work in Salford supporting people affected by suicide, trauma and grief. They’ve highlighted a petition calling for a public health campaign to reduce suicide stigma, encourage open conversations and ensure people know where to turn for support.

Labour is scrapping the cruel and outdated Vagrancy Act, which criminalised people for sleeping rough. Ending this injustice won’t tackle the root causes of homelessness alone, but it is a vital step forward, treating people with dignity rather than punishment.

This week I spoke in Parliament about serious concerns raised by whistleblowers at the Northern Care Alliance. I'm pleased the Minister has agreed to meet with me to discuss this further.

Recent announcements of brutal cuts at STV and the BBC means thousands of jobs and programmes lost. I asked Ministers to intervene to protect jobs and the future of public service media.

Conversion practices are abuse. They have no place in our society. I’m very pleased that a draft Bill to ban conversion practices for LGBTQ+ people has been published today. This is an important step towards equality, dignity and protection for all.
