#Syria Before anything on Syria: deep thanks to the networks and friends who welcomed and supported me. We share a common goal rooted in humanity. I couldn’t have done my research safely, nor reached where I did, without you. Big shout-out to all of you. 💕🙏💥💯
Today I am leaving Syria. My head is full of information, stories, and impressions. I am working hard on reports together with others, but you will have to be patient for a little while longer, because the subjects are very complex and require very precise processing...🙏
#Aleppo If I ask for a BaTTeeH بطيخ in Aleppo, will I get the yellow one. If I ask for a baTTeeH in Damascus, I would get the (green-red) watermelon. #linguistics
Niemand kan me verwijten dat ik niet voorbereid op reis ben :)...#NEDSWE
Corresp Syria TV: There have been abt 20 demonstrations by relatives in/fr Deir Ezzor, who found out that also civilians imprisoned by the SDF in ISIS prisons have been transferred to Iraq. I have conducted interviews regarding this. I have been told that tribes made a list of names of non-ISIS..
#Damascus I have found a paradise for people who teach or learn Arabic. Fun games to learn how to form Arabic words. (Each letter is written slightly differently depending on its position in a word.) @RenaLingua @RenaLinguaIst
When you drive into Latakia Governorate from Jisr al-Shoghour, southern Idlib, you can still see areas burned by last year's wildfires. What is striking is that most areas are completely green again after just one year. #Latakia #Syria #coastalareas
There happened to be a party when we were there... And only in Wadi Qandil did I hear this (cool) song, twice... Ta3al ta3al, by @dystinct_avalon #Latakia #WadiQandil #SyrianCoast
Among other places, we visited Wadi Qandil, north of Latakia.. #Syria #WadiQandil #Latakia
I had no idea that there was a restaurant on the 15th floor of the Cham Hotel with such a fantastic view over all of Damascus... Yesterday, before a meeting, I went upstairs for a quick look:
After two hours, I forgot to smile. But I am very happy that I did it.
#Damascus yday. I told them later that I was happy to see this; I come from the Netherlands, the land of cyclists 🚴♂️
