This week, we mark 36 years of the Americans with Disabilities Act! As we celebrate the progress brought by this landmark civil rights legislation, let’s recommit to building a more inclusive and accessible future for all.
Unfortunately, due to inclement weather, my office has to POSTPONE today's Congress Comes to You in Roxborough. Please contact my office at 215-276-0340 if you need assistance.
A lot has changed in the last 17 years. But the federal minimum wage has not. Congress must pass the #RaisetheWage Act. Across the country as the cost of living keeps climbing, our federal minimum wage must be a livable wage!
Next Wednesday, #TeamEvans is hosting a constituent services pop-up from 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM at the Darrell L. Clarke Community Center! If you need help with federal issues like passports, VA benefits, or Social Security benefits- stop by!
Hey #Roxborough! Do you need help with a federal agency this summer? If so, come visit my constituent services pop-up on Monday, July 27, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, at Andorra Library!
Happy Birthday to the late, great Nelson Mandela! An unwavering champion of equality and justice, and personal hero of mine, today especially I’m reminded of his words: “For to be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.”
Six years ago, we lost a titan, a champion for the voiceless, the Conscience of Congress, and my dear friend and personal hero- John Lewis. Today and every day, let us follow in his footsteps. As he once said: “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
It was a pleasure to welcome @governor.pa.gov, @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social, and a bipartisan Congressional delegation to Philadelphia last week as we celebrated our democracy where it began, and the 250 years of hard-fought progress we have seen since!
158 years ago, the 14th Amendment was ratified, guaranteeing birthright citizenship, equal protection, and due process. As these rights are under siege by this president, GOP-controlled Congress, and Supreme Court extremists, we must continue fighting to protect this backbone of our democracy.
This is the reality of one year under Trump’s big ugly tax cut for the wealthiest. And exactly why Democrats in Congress are fighting to reverse it.
West Philly: This Wednesday, July 8, from 4:30 to 6:30 PM, my office is hosting a constituent services pop-up at the Lucien E. Blackwell Community Center! If you need help with a federal agency, stop by this great event!
Happy Independence Day, Philly! 250 years ago, right here in Philadelphia, we threw off the reins of monarchy — declaring independence from a tyrannical king and creating a nation under the enduring promise of liberty and justice for all. (1/2)
Tomorrow marks one year of millions of Americans losing access to their health care and food assistance just so Trump could give another tax cut to billionaires. While the GOP celebrates, House Democrats are fighting to restore this critical funding and undo these tax breaks.
This year, your holiday celebrations are more expensive thanks to President Trump’s tariff-taxes and illegal war of choice.
Happy Birthday to the late, great Justice Thurgood Marshall! As we near our country’s 250th birthday, I’m reminded of what Justice Marshall once said: “This is your democracy. Make it. Protect it. Pass it on.” (1/2)
Speaker Johnson clearly does not understand the value of Social Security and Medicare. These programs are not “entitlements” that need to be “fixed;” they are EARNED benefits that need to be strengthened and protected!
Excited to stop by the newly unveiled statue of Joe Frazier with his daughter Jacquelyn at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art! He was a boxing legend and iconic Philadelphian, and I’m happy to see this statue find a permanent home!
If House Republicans don't want to govern anymore, Democrats are happy to take over running the House and getting the people's business done.
Today marks four years since Roe v. Wade was overturned. As the consequences of that decision continue to grow, and the GOP assaults on health care keep coming, I’m proudly fighting to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act and protect access to reproductive health care for all.
Happy Father’s Day to all the fathers, grandfathers, and father figures in Philadelpia and beyond!
Thank you to the Enterprise Center for this honor! Since my time in Harrisburg, I have proudly been a staunch supporter of the small business community in Philadelphia and beyond. I am thankful to have always had community partners like the Enterprise Center in the fight to expand our economy!
11 years ago, nine Black parishioners were murdered at Mother Emanuel AME Church in a hate-filled act of gun violence. This tragic act of violence wouldn't have been possible without loopholes in our gun laws. (1/2)
I was honored to receive the Legacy Leadership Award from JEVS. I’m grateful to have had JEVS as a partner throughout my time in Harrisburg and Washington, working together in the fight for economic growth and equity in Philadelphia and beyond!
Last week, I joined the groundbreaking of the Urban League of Greater Philadelphia’s new Center for Well-Being. I proudly secured $1.2 million in federal funding for this project and am excited to see this Center will be providing a wide range of critical health care services in West Philly!
10 years ago, 49 innocent lives were stolen at Pulse Nightclub in a horrific act of hate-fueled gun violence. Today, as we honor the lives lost and those forever changed, let us recommit to ending the epidemics of gun violence and violence against the LGBTQ+ community.
This #FosterYouthShadowDay, my office hosted Skylar from the National Foster Youth Institute! It was great to chat about her experience as a former foster youth and her advocacy work! (1/2)
It’s an honor to be named a Champion for Children by First Focus Campaign for Children! Our children are our future. That’s why I have and will always proudly fight to invest in the resources they need to thrive!
It’s Day 100 of Trump’s war of choice. 13 American service members have died and hundreds more have been injured. Thousands of civilians have been killed. And it’s cost taxpayers over $100 billion. The House has done its job to end this illegal war in Iran. Now it’s time for the Senate to act!
Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day, but every single day, far too many communities in Philly and beyond are touched by the epidemic of gun violence. It does not have to be this way. It’s past time for Congress to act. #EnoughIsEnough
