Since February 28, Americans have paid $56.4 billion more for gas—an average of $477 more per household.  Central Valley families are already stretched thin. They shouldn’t have to pay the price for another costly conflict.

Now, ABC30 is facing an unprecedented early review of its broadcast license by the FCC. That's why I led my colleagues in urging the FCC to renew ABC30's license so they can continue delivering the trusted local journalism our communities rely on every day.

Republicans have now cut SNAP and nutrition assistance twice. First in the Big Ugly Bill. Now again with another $6 billion cut in the Agriculture Appropriations bill.    I took to the House floor to say enough is enough. Our families, seniors, veterans, and children deserve better.

The Supreme Court’s decision on birthright citizenship reaffirms that fundamental principle. America is a nation built by generations of immigrants and remains a land of freedom and opportunity for all.

This June, we celebrate #ImmigrantHeritageMonth. As the grandson of Portuguese immigrants, I’ve seen firsthand how hard work, sacrifice, and determination strengthen our communities and our country. Let’s honor their contributions today and every day.

We discussed the importance of ensuring a reliable water supply, investing in critical federal water infrastructure, and responsibly operating our federal water facilities to support Valley communities, agriculture, and our economy.

Here in the San Joaquin Valley, federal investments in research help our farmers innovate, strengthen our rural economy, and protect our nation's food security. We must continue investing in the future of American agriculture.

TPS was created by Congress on a bipartisan basis to protect those who cannot safely return home because of war, violence, or natural disasters. We can secure our borders, uphold our immigration laws, and honor our humanitarian values. America is strong enough to do both.

The response? “I don’t know.” That’s not good enough. Our producers are counting on these programs, and USDA must provide answers and ensure they receive the support they’ve been promised.

Happy 251st Birthday to the United States Army! For 251 years, Army soldiers have defended the freedoms and liberties we hold dear. Today, we honor the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of those serving today and the veterans who came before them. 🇺🇸

It was great to have a productive conversation with local CA-21 leaders Rachel Bigby of Frutura and Malie Frelinger of Fowler Packing to hear firsthand about the opportunities and challenges facing our fresh produce industry.

It’s plain and simple: farmers across CA-21 and throughout the country need certainty in the marketplace—not chaos. At a time when farm bankruptcies are rising, we need to stay focused on ensuring reliable markets for our farmers and producers.

Our dairy farmers help feed the nation and drive our local economy. I look forward to continuing to work with industry leaders to support our dairy farmers and strengthen the communities they sustain.

But what’s being described still does not reflect the durable peace the President has outlined—it remains elusive. We need a real ceasefire and lasting peace that brings down costs for families and farmers, especially fuel and fertilizer.

More than 1.3 million Portuguese Americans call this country home. Their contributions deserve recognition, and their heritage deserves to be celebrated. #DayOfPortugal #PortugueseAmerican

California producers deserve strong standards, fair representation, and a framework that strengthens our olive oil growers.

This morning, I joined Center Forward’s panel to discuss export markets for American farmers, the impact of tariffs, and the upcoming USMCA review. I appreciated the bipartisan discussion on strengthening market access, supporting our producers, and keeping American agriculture competitive.

This funding will support efforts to contain the infestation and protect some of California's most valuable specialty crops.

82 years ago, thousands of brave soldiers landed on the beaches of Normandy to defend the freedoms we hold dear. On D-Day, we honor the courage, service, and sacrifice of these American patriots and remember the enduring responsibility we share to protect democracy for future generations.

As we move forward, we will continue working to address these challenges and seize opportunities to build a healthier future for Latinos and communities across the Valley and our country.
