🗣️ What's happening in Cancer Alley is happening worldwide. From the South of the U.S. to the global South, our communities are all being subjected to pollution at the hands of those putting corporate greed above the welfare of the people. #revyearwood
We vote for Nolan Wells. We vote to preserve the memory of those who are gone but never forgotten. Local elections hold power. In these elections you elect who will comprise & run our criminal justice system, such as judges, county sheriffs, & more. We have change to make & communities to defend.
This weekend, family, I’m honored to join the Veterans for Peace Convention in Missouri! ✊🏾 Also, check out "Protest: Respect It. Defend It. Use It." by Annie Leonard & Andre Carothers. I’m honored to be featured alongside others who have used peaceful protest as a powerful tool to create change.
Don't let them take our ability to tell our stories away. They want us to be quiet. They want us to back down. Don't concede. Use your voice, use your creativity, and let your story be told.
August is almost here, and I'm headed to ATL for #NABJ26. I'll be joining a powerful conversation to bring #WhileBlack front and center, exploring what it means to witness, document, and report on the realities of our time. If you're at #NABJ26, I hope you'll join us. See you in Atlanta.
Returning to the origins of #RespectMyVote, born 18 years ago. Reflecting on the it's birth a bittersweet moment recognizing where we've come from & where we have left to go. Here's to 18 years of artivism, incredible collaboration w/ creatives, & demanding that the powers that be respect our vote.
It is the most invincible army known to mankind — the people on the march. To the people ultimate triumph may be delayed but it cannot be denied. ― Saul D. Alinsky 💯 ✊🏾
Almost a month out🚨 We're recognizing 21 years since Hurricane Katrina forever changed New Orleans and Louisiana as a whole. Commune with friends and family, give libations to those we've lost, and walk in remembrance. See you there. 📅 August 29th 📍 Meet at the levees—Jourdan Ave & N Galvez
Black men deserve to grow old. Black men deserve to be protected. Black men deserve to live. I'm demanding a thorough & elaborate investigation to bring peace to Nolan Wells' family and to bring justice to this young man whose death has left this nation upturned.
Throwing it back to last month. I was proud to represent #ThePlasticDetox at @hollywoodclimatesummit with the amazing Josh "Bones" Murphy, co-director and producer of the film, and the incredible Dr. Jasmine McDonald, associate professor of epidemiology, Columbia University.
For 18 years, artivists have joined the Caucus to amplify one simple message: your voice and vote matters. When artists use their platforms to inspire civic action, culture becomes a catalyst for change. Grateful for every creative who's stood with #RespectMyVote. The marathon continues. ✊🏾🗳️
Communities of color are adamant about telling their stories and being a part of the solution. They're not looking for translators to come in here to tell their story anymore. 🗯️

"A City in the Forest," a seminal documentary, is chronicling the resistance movement against the construction of Cop City in Atlanta. I am proud to be an executive producer on this film with the amazing team behind it. Documenting these pivotal moments is crucial in telling our story and history.
Enjoying quality moments with some of the wonderful individuals who are dedicated to making a change and fighting the good fight. I left LA feeling inspired and fired up. 🔥
👉🏾 Big Oil poisons our communities every day. They attack our communities through constructing petrochemical plants and oil refineries, seeping cancerous chemicals into our neighborhoods, and advocating for environmental deregulation. We're not going to sit down and take it.
"You may encounter many defeats, but you must not be defeated. In fact, it may be necessary to encounter the defeats, so you can know who you are, what you can rise from, how you can still come out of it." -- Maya Angelou ✊🏾🌹
🚨 ICYMI: Check out our #ClimateFriday episode, "Plantations to Pollution" with Chandra Taylor-Sawyer, Senior Attorney at @selc.bsky.social & WPFW DC
I had a great time sitting down & speaking with The Spark about the lasting impact of #ThePlasticDetox & what changes it inspired me to take. Being from Cancer Alley I've always taken action against my use of plastic, but there are a few more changes that I've now taken after my time with TPD
✊🏾 Never stop fighting, never stop organizing, never stop uplifting what’s right. All power to the people.
There is no room to debate or deny the horrors and atrocities that are committed repeatedly on Black and brown communities by the petrochemical industry. Full stop.
Happy National Poetry Month, my brothers and sisters.✊🏾 This month we celebrate and honor the incredible artists who have come and gone, gracing this world with their talents.
15 years ago, today. We made history with the release of "Hip Hop Rev" via @Discovery's #PlanetGreen network. Man does time fly. But I'm still here on the frontlines fighting the good fight, and that never gets tiring.
Happy Earth Day, family. ✊🏾🌍️ The fight for our planet and future generations continues. Through our continued collaboration and passion for justice, we will one day succeed. Don't let up.
