1983 Vault: How Channel 7 kept you updated with the footy, when they didn't broadcast the game live.
Still yet to find one of the important missing pieces of footy vision - Mick Malthouse's 1982 fitness test. But we are getting closer, thanks to Cameron, here's a story on Mick from the week before.
New cricket discovery today: Rescued this brief 16mm film from being thrown out! Got it digitised and it shows South Australia v NSW at Adelaide Oval on December 17 1938. (have zoomed in at end of clip so show the footage clearer)
Bonkers! With Michael Wagner's help we've saved 2.5hrs of Rex Hunt/3AW Footy highlights 2006-2007. Absolute CRAZY radio/singing/segments. (Some of this audio played on defunct Footyheads site) Listen on YT link or search 'Rhettrospective Audio History' in your podcast app youtu.be/Gh8fsY3HVoI

Another entry into the "If you don't wish to know the score, then look away now." From 1997. (This one is flirting with copyright)
The handwritten scoring system of this footy fan - for Round 12 1974. I X O - , correlate to which quarter each score was kicked. Name crossed means they came off field, injured.

@theterminizer.bsky.social Tell Jordan that the 'Criterion Mobile Closet' is appearing in Portland , Oregon where you guys are!
For 40 yrs, SEC worker Mr Fenech took his Super 8 camera everywhere to record the history of Melbourne buildings construction/demolition from 1970s-2000s. After his death, his family donated 200 reels to me. A few bucks to help pay digitisation is always welcomed buymeacoffee.com/rhettrospect...

The Richmond connection: 3 weeks later in 1986 Kylie debuted her SOLO singing career at Festival Hall And look who was bloody there to witness it! The old man! I asked him, and he clearly remembers the night as he was a guest speaker.
Out of the vault: For the record, this is apparently the event which launched Kylie Minogue's singing career. The July 13th 1986 fundraiser for the Fitzroy Football Club.
Out of the vault: In 2000, the AFL organised for the post-match press conference to be held in a marquee amongst the drunken supporters. Never again!
Only caught up with this now. Great work by #TheFrontBar to find footage of daredevil Gary Wells jumping over the playing group in 1980. I had never seen it before, only photos. (What you forgot to mention is he was wearing Michael Roach's playing guernsey at the time!)
2002 Vault: Ryan Hargrave and the 'Legal Off-Street Drag Racing' visit.
Throughout the 1970s, 80s, and 90s, an SEC worker travelled all over Melbourne each day along with his Super 8 camera to meticulously document the city's history/events over 30 yrs. All 150+ reels, along with photos/slides have been donated to me. I will digitise and put online.
A reminder that all my radio vault discoveries are constantly uploaded to my ROAR Richmond podcast. (just search for "Roar Richmond" in your podcast app)
As much as us Tiger fans want to 'hate' Collingwood - how awesome that Magpie fanatic Michael Lynch donated his Collingwood VHS tapes recorded off the TV to the footy vault. (there's even some old NBL telecasts in there I believe)
