Usually posting about my garden or the Edmonton Oilers. I make FreshSheets, the easiest way to get custom fantasy hockey draft rankings for your league's unique settings.
I’m getting my first ripe tomatoes, and oh my word these Sunrise Bumblebee Organics are so great. Incredibly sweet and they are absolutely gorgeous in person. Starting off with light and dark green stripes, they blush yellow and then turn deep gold with rich red-orange stripes. 🌱
@wyshynski.bsky.social in early 2019 I very briefly met your dad (we were in the same beer line at The Rock) and he was exactly as you’d described him over the years, even wearing the Devils jersey foul with his name on it. He leaves a massive legacy, and this made me absolutely cackle. What a guy.
The KF Aerospace museum is a top-tier spot to kill a couple of hours with kids on a hot day. Great mix of hands-on activities and cool things to look at, and only $10 admission for a family. It’s also expressly anti-fascist.
I also had to give my basil a haircut, and I used the trimmings to make a basil finishing oil.
Today’s garden harvest is one Italian ribbed zucchini, four golden beets, one chioggia beet, and one shishito pepper. 🌱
@darthbluesky.bsky.social tonight we’re smoshin’ with locally grown red skinned potatoes and some herbed compound butter.
These planes have been doing passes every ten minutes or so and I can hear the choppers going back and forth from the lake as they attack the fire in West Kelowna.
Everyone has decided my cul de sac is the ideal place to watch from.
I can see it from my deck. Currently the wind is pushing it away from me.
I’ve been away from my garden for a week (survived an 11-hours-each-way road trip to Alberta with 3 kids, please clap) and it was such a delight to see how much it popped. Look at this arugula harvest! 🌱
Remember when Jim Benning dyed his hair jet black right before the draft lmao
And if you’ve been wondering what disgraced former Sportsnet analyst Gregg “The Manalyst” Zaun has been up to, it’s “badly managing Rhys’ local summer ball team”.
Brought the Smallbrechts to their first baseball game! They liked the snacks, the mascot, and when the DJ played “everybody clap your hands” in between batters.
Rebranding thinning seedlings as “a strategic microgreen generation event”
Omg thank you so much. I had to move so much soil by hand to fill the thing, but it turned out even better than I hoped. The grass on that slope was always completely scorched by mid June, I knew this would be a much better use of the space.
All of the tomato and pepper seedlings I’ve been so painstakingly doting on for months just up and died, so I spent like $50 at the farmers market and that’s just a way better way to do it. 🌱
Made the spruce tip ice cream, and I like this a lot. Subtle delicate citrus, just a hint of pine-y notes. I think I overchurned it a bit, it was having a hard time sticking together, and I’d use a heavier cream. I’ll definitely make this again.
I saw this fifth-gen Honda Prelude with a COLLECTOR PLATE and I’m sorry, if my buddy Derek drove it when we were in high school it is ineligible to be a collector, passage of time be damned.
The massive spruce tree right outside my front door is just starting to have the buds open, and I’m going to try harvesting the tips for the first time. Definitely going to infuse some syrups, and I hear spruce tip ice cream is fantastic. 🌱
I'm fine with these three as finalists, but it's pretty unusual for the highest scoring defenseman in the league to be outside the Top 3. Only happened 5 times in the last 20 seasons. Congrats to Evan Bouchard joining this exclusive club!
Vibes have been weird the whole series, so I’m doing my part by going even weirder with my game day fit of a game-worn Nick Schultz away jersey (with an A on the front!) and a hat signed by Adam Clendenning.
