Recurvaria leucatella (White-barred Apple Moth) in the garden moth trap - an uncommon species in Devon with no records in the last two years. #teammoth

Mompha langiella (White-spot Mompha) was a lifer for me recently when this adult emerged from an occupied mine I’d found locally on Great Willowherb. #teammoth

This rather worn Large Twin-spot Carpet was a notable species for me trapping in the Midlands last week. Assuming I’ve got the ID correct, it is my 1400th UK moth species. #teammoth

Migrant Hawker (I think - corrections welcome!) in the garden moth trap this morning. Only the second time ever that I’ve had a large dragonfly in the trap. #teammoth

Silky Wave (Idaea dilutaria) was flying in good numbers at a Bristol site last weekend. First time I’ve seen this Nationally Rare moth of limestone grassland. #teammoth

Striped Lychnis (Cucullia lychnitis) larva on its Dark Mullein hostplant on a Hampshire road verge with eagle-eyed @tonydavisecology.bsky.social earlier this week. #teammoth

Another highlight of this week’s Hampshire trip was cases of the rare Coleophora vibicella (Large Gold Case-bearer) on Dyer’s Greenweed. At 2cm long they are the largest Coleophora cases in the UK, 3x the size of C. serratella cases. #teammoth

This Spiny Stick Insect was a BIG surprise when I was searching a Hazel for moth leaf mines in the garden today. I’ve found them in the garden before but not for about a decade now, so it’s great to know they are still here!

Plenty of caterpillars on Blackthorn on the Cornwall coast today: Lackey, Yellow-tail, Yponomeuta padella (Orchard Ermine) &, best of all, some early Stigmella prunetorum (Scarce Blackthorn Dot). #teammoth

Dire moth trapping on the north coast of Cornwall these last two nights - 6 moths of 5 species last night. Only saving grace was my first Broad-barred White of the year. #teammoth

This Archips xylosteana (Variegated Golden Tortrix) is the latest moth to emerge from caterpillars I found in early May. This one was in a rolled Birch leaf from a heathland site in south Devon. #teammoth
