A council was summoned to meet at Ephesus in 431 to decide the question. As a result of this council, Nestorius was condemned as a heretic.

(b) the person continued to be entitled to personal independence payment until the making of that determination.”

Sentencing Guidelines (Pre-sentence Reports) Bill
[AS INTRODUCED]
A BILL TO Make provision about sentencing guidelines in relation to pre-sentence reports.
BE IT ENACTED by the King’s most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—
1. Sentencing guidelines about pre-sentence reports
(1) Section 120 of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (sentencing guidelines) is amended as follows.
(2) After subsection (4) insert—
“(4A) But sentencing guidelines about pre-sentence reports may not include provision framed by reference to different personal characteristics of an offender.”
(3) After subsection (11) insert—
“(12) For the purposes of this section— “personal characteristics” include, in particular— (a) race; (b) religion or belief; (c) cultural background; “pre-sentence report” has the same meaning as in the Sentencing Code (see section 31 of the Code).”
2. Extent, commencement and short title
(1) This Act extends to England and Wales only.
(2) This Act comes into force on the day after the day on which it is passed.
(3) This Act may be cited as the Sentencing Guidelines (Pre-sentence Reports) Act 2025.

Whereas the Dutchy Seale belonging to the County Palatine of Lancaster, hath been forceably taken from Christopher Banister Esquire, Vice-Chancellor of the said County, by the forces raised against the Parliament: In the want whereof, neither Sheriff nor Justice of Peace, could be made for that County, nor common Justice administred unto the Inhabitants thereof, unto their unsufferable prejudice and detriment.
[New Seal for Duchy of Lancaster authorized. Seal to be sent to Christopher Banister, Vice-Chancellor of County. All Acts done by former Seal since its removal from said C. Banister to be void.]
Be it therefore Declared and Ordained by the Lords and Commons assembled in Parliament, That a Dutchy Seal already by them provided and made, shall be forthwith put in use, and shall be, and is hereby authorized and established to be of like force, power and validity, to all intents and purposes, as any Dutchy Seal of the County Palatine of Lancaster heretofore hath been or ought to be: And the said Seal shall be forthwith sent by a Messenger, to be appointed by the Speaker of the House of Commons, to the said Christopher Banister, who is hereby authorized and ordered, during the pleasure of both Houses of Parliament, to put the same Seale in use, and to doe and performe all Acts and things, as fully and amply as hee or any other Vice-Chancellor hath formerly done or performed; and to doe and performe such other Acts and things therewith, as he shall receive directions for, from both Houses of Parliament. The Windsor Framework’s (WF’s) rights provisions have proven difficult for the courts to navigate. They turn their face into the wind of Brexit’s “take back control” narrative. They involve the courts in interpreting elements of the 1998 Agreement that were loosely drafted, precisely because they were not intended at the time to be adjudicated. They also introduce a separate set of rights protections for just one part of the UK which it is easy for legislators to overlook. But the legal mechanism, when these countervailing factors are set to the side, is workable and grinds to familiar conclusions based upon the way these aspects of EU law operated before Brexit, provided the courts are willing to set these extraneous factors aside. And the Northern Ireland courts have risen to this challenge.

Mr. Scott-Elliot asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement with regard to the treatment for taxation purposes of the expenses which have to be met by the occupant of the post of Prime Minister, having regard to the changed conditions since the salary of the post was fixed by Statute in 1937.
The Chancellor of the Exchequer (Mr. Dalton): Yes, Sir. An additional £5,000 a year was added to the salary of the Prime Minister in 1937 in order to enable him to discharge the public duties indispensable to his office and to his residence at No. 10, Downing Street. While there has been no reduction in these duties, the effect of taxation has been to reduce the net salary to about the same sum as before the increase. It has, therefore, been decided that £4,000 of the salary of the office should be treated as an expenses allowance which will be deducted for Income Tax. I am sure that the House will agree that the arrangement is a fair and reasonable means…

368. Fixed sum deductions from earnings payable out of public revenue
(1) A deduction is allowed from earnings payable out of the public revenue for the employee’s fixed sum expenses in respect of the duties to which the earnings relate.
(2) “Fixed sum expenses” means the sum, if any, fixed by the Treasury as in their opinion representing the average annual expenses which employees of the employee’s description are obliged to pay wholly, exclusively and necessarily in the performance of duties to which such earnings relate.
(3) This section needs to be read with section 330(2) (prevention of double deductions).

The flag was duly hoisted yesterday (Sunday afternoon) at three o’clock, the warships in the harbour co-operating by firing a salute.

Immediately upon the flag being broken the troops gave a royal salute, after which the National Anthem was sung by all present. Three cheers were then given for His Majesty the King. In spite of this, local shortages of shillings were occasionally reported in the early months of the year. This has become an annual occurrence. On the other hand, in the later months, just before Christmas, it is very difficult to get the Banks to accept shillings. The demand for halfcrowns and florins at that time strains the Mint’s capacity, only to be replaced by urgent requests for shillings as soon as the cold weather commences in February, and the prepayment meters of the Gas and Electricity authorities absorb more than they disgorge.
In an attempt to prevent, or at least to mitigate, this inconvenience, the Mint accumulated a reserve of seven million shillings at the end of the year. More than this was not possible without endangering the Silver Recovery programme, which provides the Silver to repay a Lease Lend Debt to the United States.
