First half marathon in a while done. No races this year but aiming for another Greek marathon next year.
Had an interview today. Think it went well but won't hear for a fortnight. So we have wine and a wonderful homemade pizza. And yes I commit war crimes.
Tea for me please. I'll bring fresh bread if folks want it with butter or toasted.
Gwin a pitsa i dathlu'r etholiad, ac am dyfodol braf am Gymru. Wine and pizza to celebrate the election, and for a brighter futures for Wales.
Anyhoo while the UK is again having midlife political crisis, it's time to strain the yoghurt I made overnight.
Lords and Ladies (Arum maculatum) or cuckoo pint, which goes with the Welsh, Pidyn y Gog or Cuckoo's Dick. This one has a lot of folklore, in a lot of England it was thought that adders ate the berries to get their venom. In Cambridge bringing it into the house brought tuberculosis.
Lesser celandine (Ficaria verna). In Welsh it's Llygaid Ebrill or April's Eyes as a sign of spring, and was used in parts of Wales as the marker for when to start sowing. Another name was pilewort as the tubers look like piles, and were thought to be useful as a ward against and cure for it.
Bluebell (Hyacinthoides non-scripta), in Welsh: Clychau'r Gog (cuckoo bell), Croeso Haf (Summer's Welcome) and Glas y Llwyn (Blue of the Thicket). Found in ancient woodland in the UK, and a spring tourist attraction. The native species is protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act.
Mild case of extensor tendonitis so no running or climbing for me for a few days but can go on silly little mental health walks because my Garmin has made me a human tamagochi.
While @rspb.bsky.social #biggardenbirdwatch isn't a competition, getting a kingfisher scoping out my pond within the first five minutes feels like I'm winning 😉 Also you can tell the initial scramble for my phone when it turned up photo
Experimenting with stuffed crust. I beheld the extent of infinity and it was disappointed with me. Turns out that was not enough pineapple on the pizza.
Missing this view right now while it's cold and wet in Wales and I'm about to start work.
