Ryan of the 365 Movies Hates A.I.

Amateur movie critic, amateur fantasy novel writer, pretty much amateur everything. For nuanced and informative takes on gaming and movies, go to Roger Ebert's old site. For dumb shit, click here:
It’s an entry in the Assassin’s Creed series. Set during the Peloponnesian War, you play as a mercenary who encounters Socrates, Pericles and other notable figures of the era. The whole series is framed as being the alternate, “real” history of the world.
I would drop a 7 on this. Milly Alcock oozes personality and Krypto, as always, is a delight. The rest is just standard superhero fare that I’ll have forgotten about by tomorrow. They did, however, manage to turn me into a dog owner.
I will only rarely give Disney—not Pixar or any subsidiary, but the O.G. Disney—credit these days. They are not exactly in a golden age right now. I will, however, give props where they are due: this game is really fun. It’s basically a Metroidvania where you rely on brains over brawn.
I was going to drop a joke here and then I realized it would only be funny to people with the world’s darkest sense of humor. So have this Chewbacca-looking motherfucker instead.
Taylor Swift met Travis Kelce because he basically stalked her at a show and their wedding is taking place at Madison Square Garden with 1,000 execs and celebrities. You know who I bet won’t be there? Any of the regular fans who made and keep her rich.
Same director, by the way, and another great film. The actor playing the teen daughter just recently died.
This is unrelated, but I found a meme that is begging to be posted on an account like yours.
In any other developed country, the breathtaking scope of this SCOTUS’s corruption would be one of the biggest scandals in that nation’s history. Under Republican rule, it’s just another day ending in Y.
Finally getting around to a new movie. I’ve been on the wagon. I can’t remember the number, but I’m predisposed to have good feelings about Spielberg+Aliens.
I’m not a parent, but I have been around many kids and responsible for some, and I think the problem is that so many of us don’t remember what it was like to be a kid. Especially today, they are exposed to SO MUCH information and stimuli, and they don’t have the context to process it alone.
I’ll see you a whatever-his-name-is and raise you a Mark Twain.
This bad take has echoes of “why create if you aren’t making a profit off of it?” If you’re willing to leave yourself open, nothing can substitute for actually standing there and feeling the place yourself.
My friend’s four year old has never seen Star Wars and just made a better Star Wars movie with Lego than Disney could make with infinite resources. They should do this one and literally just call it C3PO on a Pterodactyl.
Name me one celebrity from before you were born who you would have had the hots for in the worst way (but keep it respectful and PG-13). I’ll start us off with Eartha Kitt. #filmsky
Just a reminder, gamers, in case you forgot: Mina the Hollower is out this week, and Yacht Club, developers of the brilliant Shovel Knight, are relying on the game to survive. I know that’s not really your problem, but if you want indies to thrive, you are in a position to help that happen.
Crappy articles like this are as good a reason as any to still be subscribing to National Geographic (there are also many other reasons).
Dale Partridge’s hard drive is gonna be something else.
Mortal Kombat II: Fights, costumes, Kano and Cage: A+ Everything else: C I think I’d drop a 6 1/2 on this. #filmsky
Hearing that Yoshi’s new game is geared toward beginning gamers has me a bit torn. On the one hand, it’s good to have gateway drugs with which we may addict The Youngs. On the other hand, the Yoshi series has never been aimed at beginners and they could easily have just added a training wheels mode.
I would so start a war over Lupita Nyong’o. I would launch those thousand ships, which I think is a euphemism. I suspect a lot of these shitbird MAGAs hate her because they secretly want her.
If there were any kind of justice in the world, this movie would make a billion dollars at the box office. It’s always delightful to see a family film that does not assume children are idiots. Also, I will apparently cry at anything. #filmsky
Mike Mignola’s Lands Unknown universe is so rich and so fascinating that I find myself reading a few pages at a time because I don’t want it to end. I did it with Bowling for Corpses and I’m doing it again with Uri Tupka and the Gods. It’s not a retread of Hellboy; it is absolutely its own thing.
@raygoldfield.bsky.social and @tibbittz.bsky.social, I staged a raid on a local international market and came away with these spoils of war.
I have reached the point in my Final Fantasy VI replay where I SHOULD be taking on Brachiosaurs, but I feel a fear I did not have when I was fourteen. Back then I just died until I got it right. Now I can feel my body rotting a little faster with every failed attempt.
