Much as I tend to like travelling by train in France, ceci, c'est ridicule @sncfconnect.bsky.social . I searched for a rail route from Paris to Aosta. So... Gare de Lyon to Lausanne, d'accord. Lausanne to Martigny, bon. Martigny to Aosta, comment? It's 75km away!
I have to confess I've spent the week in a much more sober way. No more than a few beers, and spending the days in stuffy rooms at the Sorbonne (a couple of courses as part of their Université d'été).
I like what Julius Fiedler has been doing to spread the message: bakinghermann.com
A new musical delight, come to me all the way from the other side of the world.
What about him? While we must oppose anti-Semitism, we also need to avoid a repeat of what happened in the Labour Party between 2017 and 2019, where suspension based on tenuous allegations was used to obstruct democracy. And suspended members have a right to get legal advice.
I stopped trusting opinion polls, and still less tactical voting sites, back in 2017. Survation polling suggested that, "if none of the voters of Bath voted tactically, and simply voted for their favourite party, Bath would likely have been a Labour seat at the last General Election."
Sport has never been my thing. But music is, and the same has happened there. Back in 1970, when I was too young to go, the Isle of Wight festival (featuring The Doors, Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Sly and the Family Stone, among many others) was priced at £3 for the whole weekend - around £42 today.
Drones can have ranges much more than 150km. The Samad drones used by the Houthis are said to have a range of up to 1,800km. Still less than 20,000km.

Remember folks, don't post anything generated by "AI" without checking it first. In fact, how about just not posting anything generated by "AI"?
Curious - just came across a website with a "Go Green" button. Thing is, it doesn't just remove "items like images and video", but also turns the entire site greyscale. I'm not sure a few .css files add significantly to the energy use, and I wonder what message it's sending about going green.
I do vaguely remember learning to read. It was before I started to school, and I remember a set of alphabet / word flash cards my mother used to use with me. Then I remember having to learn to read again, because I started school when ITA was still a thing. It really confused me.
I've just found that I can view a stereoscopic image without a viewer, similarly to viewing one of those "Magic Eye" (autostereogram) images. This is the most striking image I've tried it on so far (© Franz van Duns / Wikimedia Commons / category:CC-BY-SA-4.0)
This is me and Eliza from that gig. And they're Wassailing there again on the 29th November.
I have my signed copy, which I got at their gig in Whitby, the Crimbo before last. I also got a copy for my sister, 'cos she loves the Hippopotamus 🦛 song.
When simple property damage is termed terrorism by a government which is actively supporting genocide and war crimes, then the word terrorism has ceased to have any meaning. Solidarity with @palaction.bsky.social
Seems we were privileged on this side of the pond. It's nearly a year since I got my paperback copy from @portalbookshop.bsky.social
There - fixed it for you. As others have said, Hamas are only a symptom of Israeli occupation, while there are many more (and worse) who share Netenyahu's genocidal intent. And Trump wouldn't have got into power if all else was right with the US.
Well, they would if you spell it like that, Spelled properly, it's perfectly good French. This is from the website of the le Robert dictionary, and in the first sense means pretty much what it means in English (including in the figurative sense of, say, being in a cul-de-sac in your career).
This wasn't a strike, and the fascists can get in the sea, but you can absolutely strike on a Saturday if you work on a Saturday...
