My newest space photo- the Cygnus Wall! The Cygnus Wall is a small portion of the humongous North America Nebula. The wall portion here is about 20 lightyears across and 2600 lightyears away. This is the brightest star forming region within the North America Nebula.

Finished off galaxy season with M51, the Whirlpool Galaxy. Nearly 18 hours of exposure from my backyard. Located about 31 million light-years away, M51 is interacting with its smaller companion galaxy, creating the beautiful spiral structure and tidal bridge visible in the image.

The Flame Nebula (NGC 2024) and Horsehead Nebula (Barnard 33) lie ~1,350 light-years away in the Orion Molecular Cloud. This is right around 52 hours of exposure time. The Flame is a massive star-forming region, glowing as newborn stars ionize surrounding hydrogen gas.

Last night I finished up my image of the Lobster Claw Nebula! Located 11,000 light-years away in the constellation Cassiopeia, the Lobster Claw is a massive H-II emission nebula spanning roughly 100 light-years across.

My newest image of the Elephant Trunk Nebula and the IC 1396 region is built from nearly 1000 individual deep-sky exposures totaling 81 hours of integration time. The long integration reveals the full structure of a collapsing molecular cloud inside a giant H II region about 2,400 light-years away.

After nearly a month under the stars and 46 hours of exposure, here’s my final image of the Lion Nebula (Sh2-132).

I received my Wizard Nebula aluminum test print today and my word. The detail on aluminum over canvas is striking. It costs slightly more but man, it’s worth it. It’s so clear.
