I think about the biology of cognition in brains and in protozoa. New book: The Brain, in Theory.
Here's the equation. Parameters are fixed independently of the input x(t). The explanation is that this linear filter has a negative group delay (dphase/df) over some frequency range, which then acts as a negative delay for inputs in that range.
