The European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC) is an international public interest law organisation working to combat antigypsyism and human rights abuses of Roma through strategic litigation, advocacy, media work, and human rights education.
The Roma Rights Review is the authoritative source on the state of Roma rights in Europe. It was borne out of the Roma Rights Journal (Europe’s oldest academic journal dedicated to Roma) – now reimagined for this political moment. Built to be used. Read it here : www.errc.org/press-releas...
Governments are passing laws that criminalise Romani communities: • Italy: security laws targeting Romani women and their children. • Slovenia: mass surveillance powers branded as solving the "Roma issue" • Hungary: apartheid-like laws to allow “Gypsy-free” villages.
Fascists marched through Budapest in Waffen SS helmets. A neo-Nazi group firebombed a sleeping Romani family in Cegléd, Hungary with 8 children inside. All while centre-right parties across the EU keep building alliances with the far right.
The European Court of Human Rights ruled against Slovakia, Serbia, and Greece in separate cases involving: Police torture, beatings, racist abuse, failed investigations by law enforcement. This is what institutional racism looks like.
On 8 June 2026, the Roma Rights Network declared a "state of acute crisis." This publication is the evidence behind that declaration. Read it here: www.errc.org/press-releas...
Today the Roma Rights Network publishes the Roma Rights Review: Summer 2026. The product of 34 organisations across 18 countries. This is the definitive account of antigypsyism in Europe. The picture it paints is grim. 🧵Thread 👇
How can Romani women expect protection from domestic violence when police encourage "reconciliation" instead?Ramajana Asan sought help more than once. Her partner murdered her in her own home on 3 May 2025 in front of her 5yo daughter. www.errc.org/news/systemi...
On 2 August 1944, the last 4,300 Roma & Sinti at Auschwitz were gassed to death. Today - Fascism is not some abstract, distant menace. It is a present, coordinating power across Europe. Now is the time for active #antifascism as a civic duty. Resist in any way you can. #romaholocaustmemorialday
Albania moved 95% of public services online. But what happens when entire communities can't get online? We've filed a complaint exposing how Albania's digital-only system locks out Roma & Egyptian families & also puts their data at risk when they have to use 'middle-men' www.errc.org/press-releas...
We have filed a criminal complaint against Hungarian police over the death of Tamás Baki, a 37-year-old Romani father who died in hospital after being tasered 4 times, beaten, & kicked on the ground, during a police check www.errc.org/news/errc-fi...
🚨We are filing a legal complaint with the public prosecutor demanding an independent investigation into the death of Tamás, B., who police allegedly tasered 4 times, forced to the ground, and kicked and beat until he passed out in Százhalombatta #Hungary on 8th July. He died 2 days ago in hospital.
Find about the long road for justice for Stanislav Tomáš here: www.errc.org/news/from-mi...
Yesterday the European Court found the #Czech state responsible for failing to protect Stanislav Tomáš’ life, and for failing to investigate whether institutional racism was the cause of his death. We hope this judgment brings some small comfort to his family. PR here: www.errc.org/press-releas...
After years of police lies, cover up, paramedic testimony being ignored, racist investigation, & victim blaming the @echr.coe.int has finally delivered a degree of justice for the family of Stanislav Tomáš. Today is a victory for all Roma against racist law enforcement www.errc.org/press-releas...

The European Commission against Racism and Intolerance's latest report on #Slovakia is grim reading: weak police accountability for racially motivated violence, school segregation, unequal access to healthcare, & hate speech in political discourse without consequences www.errc.org/news/ecri-mo...
Europe’s largest ethnic minority is facing a declared state of acute crisis. The Roma Rights Network (33 human rights organizations from 21 countries) today warned that the persecution of Roma is a deliberate political strategy that 'securitizes' Romani communities: www.errc.org/press-releas...
Beyond the legal arguments lies a more uncomfortable reality about urban development in southeastern Europe. For cities eager to attract tourists &investment, Roma neighbourhoods often become viewed not as communities requiring support, but as obstacles to redevelopment. www.errc.org/news/they-tr...
Last week the #RomaRights Network met in Paris. 33 orgs from 21 countries represented in 1 room, at a time when assembling as anti-racists is in itself an act of defiance. Fascism isn't a spectre haunting Europe - it's in office. That's why this meeting mattered. The struggle continues and so do we.

On May 3rd, 2025, Ramajana Asan, a 36-year-old Romani mother in North Macedonia, was murdered by her partner in front of her young daughter. Despite seeking police protection multiple times, her warnings were minimized, no action was taken to prevent her ultimate murder👉 www.errc.org/news/systemi...

As Hungary starts to move from the "honeymoon period" to the difficult task of coalition-building and delivery, how the state treats its most discriminated against citizens will prove instructive as to what kind of Hungary Péter Magyar wants to build. Full story here: www.errc.org/news/euphori...
Eileen Flynn, Ireland's 1st Traveller woman Senator, is facing a relentless wave of racist abuse from the far-right after refusing to attend protests where the 🇮🇪 flag was hijacked for hate. We stand with Sen. Flynn. Anti-Traveller racism has no place in Irish democracy✊ www.errc.org/news/anti-tr...
Stop performative talk of police reform and demand real justice, said the ERRC's Jonathan Lee in the European Parliament yesterday 🚫👮♂️Training workshops and diversity hires are not working. They are a distraction from the real issue: police impunity. www.errc.org/news/you-can...
For Roma families in Montenegro, no ID means no doctor, no work, no school. 🛑 New reforms aim to break this "vicious cycle" of statelessness, but promises mean nothing without execution. Until an ID is in hand, the cycle continues. www.errc.org/news/beyond-... #RomaRights #Montenegro #Statelessness
"Humiliation, injustice, and resentment." That’s the reality for many Romani families in Hungary, according to a new Council of Europe opinion detailing systemic police abuse. Get the full story from Bernard Rorke here: www.errc.org/news/16-year...
#8April calls for real solidarity. For too long, many of our comrades have been selective in their solidarity for other racialized & minority groups. If we expect others to stand up for us, we must do the same for them. The far-right is not someone else's emergency 👉 www.errc.org/news/interna...
