GwenFox wakes up to the sunrise shining brightly through her window. She pulls her arm out with a stylus in hand, saying "Let's get this over with."

She starts to draw when the stylus starts to make a screeching noise. She says to it "So you want a new nib TODAY?"

Gwen proceeds to smash the stylus onto the ground with all her might as she has a twisted toothy smile.

GwenFox speaks directly to the audience: "For today's comic, some context is needed: most of my audience knows that I'm Vietnamese American, despite the fact I look like...this!"

Gwen snaps her fingers, and now looks like the artist of the comic; a white brunette! She continues speaking to the audience:

"My mom is white, my dad is Vietnamese, and they made me! Me being mixed has caused confusion for others before, like at my cousin's wedding."

We see Gwen's pregnant mom with her father, and her cousin's wedding ceremony. She continues:

"She married a white guy, and our two families were split in the dining hall. I was the first to get food at my designated table, so I sat down."

Gwen sits at her table as she watches everybody pass by.

Gwen's aunt comes from behind with a plate of food, looking upset. Our narrator speaks to the audience again: "Then one of my aunties came by and said 'Go sit with YOUR family'".

Gwen looks puzzled, then surprised. She continues "I was confused before realizing... She thought I was part of the groom's family."

"My Bà Nội (grandma) has 13 kids back in Vietnam, so some family members are distant to those of us from the states." The next panel shows Gwen's aunts and uncles lined up next to her grandmother as she says "Tôi đã làm ra chúng!" ("I made them!")

Gwen continues "I ended up having my dad explain that I am, in fact, his white child.". Her father comes to save the day as the aunty looks confused.

The first two panels of this comic show GwenFox having just brewed tea, and her on the steps of a school.

Narration reads: "Tuesday, June 4th 2024. I had just brewed some tea and stared at my phone. On the previous day, I finished another gig as a substitute teacher. I was exhausted. For a month and a half, my chest felt like it was going to burst every morning."

Cut to Gwen's chest burning as multiple thoughts surround her physically: "Understaffed? Forty student class? No lesson plan? Undiagnosed behavioral issues? Transphobic staff??"

Narration: "After a year of giving this education career a try, I couldn't bear it anymore. So I took a leap of faith. But... let's rewind."

Gwen is about to walk off a cliff before the narration saying "but" stops her.

Gwen's old daily routine is shown in sequence as she goes to college, drives to work, carries boxes, then works on art during her break. The next panel then shows people noticing her comics.

Narration: "From 2016 to 2022, I was a full time student and full time retail worker while making comics during my lunch breaks. I wouldn't recommend such a lifestyle, but throughout that time I gained a following for my stories."

The next few panels show stage's throughout Gwen's life, starting in grade school drawing with crayons, presenting a painting to a teacher in high school, then looking upon her own gallery in college.

Narration: "Creating art is what I've always wanted to do. From making picture books in grade school...paintings in high school...to my first solo exhibition in University."

In the high school panel, a note says: "Shout out to Lauren Barerra, Alexandra Sprowls and Jay Stuceky!"

Gwen looks over her computer in frustration as the screen shows her rejections from jobs she applied to. She then turns to look at the flyer for her exhibition (mentioned on the previous page) and decides to make the phone call she thought about earlier.

Narration: "I knew what I wanted to do, but... nobody would hire me as an artist. So I decided to make my life into my own hands. On that Tuesday, I called my agency and quit teaching to become a freelance artist."

Cut to present day. Gwen is selling art at a booth while several people examine her work.

Narration: "Two years later on that very same day, I'm so incredibly happy and honored that I'm still doing just that! My dream job wouldn't be possible without my clients, patrons, and all of you who support my work."

The last panel sees Gwen in front of canvases and tubes of paint. She speaks directly to the audience: "Thank you all so much for making this my career and keeping a roof over my head. I really couldn't do it without you."

GwenFox, her brother and aunt are sitting at a table during a family gathering. In front of them
is Thịt Kho (braised pork belly), Chả giò (egg rolls) and Soy milk.

Everyone chatters until someone from behind then says "Excuse me! I was passing by this function and wondering if the three of you are related?"

Gwen's brother replies: "We are! This is my aunty and that's my twin sister."

Stranger: Wow! So you're Vietnamese?

Brother: Yeah.

Stranger: Do you speak it?

Brother: A little!

Gwen does not look amused by the stranger's questions.

Stranger: "What's the word for rice?"

Gwen and her brother visibly panic! They look at each other, knowing exactly what the word is. Their shared thought bubble says: "Rice = cơm. Noun, pronounced 'cum'."

Brother nervously answers: "Uh, it's...'com'."

Their aunty is annoyed at the mispronounced, and shouts "No con, it's cơm! It's cơm!!" Gwen and her brother shudder in embarrassment.

At the bottom of the page, a box says: Con = my child. Noun, pronounced how it's spelt in English.

gay awakening 😳💦 (old comic from 2023!)

Sometime in 2016, GwenFox (pre transition) meets up with a man where they make out on his couch. Gwen thinks to herself "FUCK I LOVE BOYS I'M SO GAY!"

Fast forward to 2021! GwenFox walks out of a pharmacy with HRT in hand. She exclaims "Second puberty here I come!". One and a half years later, Gwen's body changes. As she has private time in bed, she says to herself "Huh. I guess I don't get horny now."

And to 2023. GwenFox meets up with a dear girl in town, and head back to her house.

Gwen: Oh my God, so you've seen -

Dear Girl: I LOVE Scott the Woz!

They both listen to music on the couch, and start to hold hands before the comic fast forwards to the two laying together. Gwen thinks to herself "Fuck, I'm gay AGAIN."
