The opening paragraph to Lady Chatterley’s Lover is one of my favorites in English literature. Written in the 1920's by D.H. Lawrence, this book was banned & faced obscenity trials in 5 countries. It wasn’t until the 1960’s that unexpurgated versions became widely available.

You can visit Cross Bones today. It is a public garden of remembrance lovingly tended to by Friends of Cross Bones; volunteer artists, docents, and gardeners that work to honor the outcast dead who were buried there.
This churchyard, also known as Cross Bones, is the final resting place of as many as 15,000 souls. It was in use until 1853, when it closed due to public outcry at the state of the place which was “completely overcharged with dead”. It was rediscovered in 1989 and excavated beginning in 1991.
