Hockey-, trumpet-, cos-player. Lookdev/environment artist in feature film animation by day. I follow artists whose work I dig.
Most people don’t need a big car and their lives would be better without it. Once or twice a year I need to move something that won’t fit in my dinky hatchback, so I spend $40 to rent a van for a few hours and pocket the hundreds of dollars a month in gas and car payments I’m saving.
And a stack of parole letters for Jean Valjean to tear up when he goes on the run (which I shamelessly copied from the film)
Today’s project: prop handbills for l’ABC revolutionaries to hand out on stage in Les Mis
When I tell you how much agony I felt debating whether to keep this book that I just found in a box I hadn’t opened since our last move twelve years ago….
Locals! There’s a corpse flower in bloom in Golden Gate Park! You should be able to see it today still. gggp.org/corpseflower/
Here are our #ShowYourStripes for around here. I moved to the Bay Area in 2004, so I’ve only seen one below average year the entire time I’ve been here.
Texturing the absolute crap out of the inside and outside of that spaceship was probably the closest I’m going to get to making a Star War in my career. So much fun.
I’ve been taking a “fluid dynamics and photography” class with @theschooloflight.bsky.social and it’s pretty fun and rad. Basically these are photos of various dyes and inks (and soy sauce) moving through a field of acrylic paint by riding Marangoni forces created by adding a solvent.
I’m rehearsing for Beethoven’s 9th and some sections of the trumpet part are quite funny indeed. “Ooh, I get to play an eighth note this measure!”
post the best picture you have ever taken of your pet (if you feel like it) Honestly this captures the three of them pretty well: magnificent sun worshipping queen, confused himbo, and dude of leisure.
Speaking of messes that are going to be impossible to clean up once he’s gone: next to the ballroom, this is going to be the biggest, most permanent scar he leaves and it’s really, really ugly. More importantly it’s really fascist and straight out of the Mussolini playbook. Please comment.
To which I have to add this video of an otter sleeping I took when I was lucky to get an after hours tour of an aquarium 🥹
We played “stump the Gen Z kids” tonight. They had no clue; the best guess was “is that one of those things where you push the button then you push it again and it tells you how long it took?”
“You know, why don’t you take [our 16 year old daughter] as your plus one to the #ToyStory5 premiere? I’ve been to a few of these and it’ll be a nice memory for her after a tough year of school,” he said, before any of this dropped. 😳
I see this kind of thing *far* more often than I would have thought. Sailboats are, like, expensive. I would have thought it wouldn’t be financially wise to just walk away from one. There must be an insurance/maritime law thing that makes it cheaper to just leave it there.
