Story artist at Dreamworks. Likes Ancient Egypt. Has drawn too many pages of the Water Tribe fancomic.
Pages 226 to 229. Boom. A bunch of Fire Nation hot heads (and one that uncharacteristically is not). #admiralzhao
Pages 224 and 225. Fireworks are now all lit, about to go boom. #admiralzhao
Slow at updating comics due to 1) day time work and 2) drawing multiple Ozais and still undecided on which one to use. I'll wait 24 hours, look again, will probably end up drawing a third one.
Pages 218 to 220. New players enter the battle and derails it. Maybe. #admiralzhao
Pages 215 to 217. A battle has been raging. Ozai was not present for his son's training so there are a few surprises. #admiralzhao
I also plead guilty of drawing LOTS of closed mouths dialogues. I don't think I could do a full story though. I mean, what if a character has to yell? Or laugh? It'd be weird.
This image makes me think of a barren version of Moon Base Alpha. That wheeled vehicle cockpit is reminiscent of an eagle transporter's. Showing my age...
Urasawa manages to pull it off very nicely. I notice it but doesn't affect my reading. Is it a stylistic choice? Do closed mouths work better with some stories? I added a Cowboy Wally example as contrast- no word bubbles but the expressions are so good.
A new trailer for the live action Netflix Avatar The Last Airbender dropped earlier today. I keep fixating on random stuff. Backgrounds, extras, etc. I want Kuei, Bosco and Long Feng next.
My brain yelled "Bubble Dress" and would only give me this reference. No latin words for that one.
Bringing this one back, plus adding to it. Definitely mixed messages. I'm easily confusticated.
Pages 212 to 214. The strategy. Or the beginning of a plan. They are all winging it at this point. #admiralzhao
Pages 210 -211. The situation (apologies for the slow updates). #admiralzhao
Pages 207 to 209. The Fire Nation royal family has an infighting problem. #admiralzhao
Pages 203 to 206. The shadows complicate any confrontations (current and upcoming). #admiralzhao
Pages 201-202 #admiralzhao Shadows vs Fire. (slower updates, re-working pages layouts and stuff)
Pages 198 to 200 Confrontation #admiralzhao (also, 200 pages celebration- grab a snack).
Pages 191 to 194. Offense / defense against airships was always going to be difficult. #admiralzhao
For Ancient Egypt, there are a few: "Papyrus" (DeGieter), "Sur Les Terres d'Horus" (Dethan), "Kheti" (Dethan). And I just found out Dethan did a new series set in Ancient Egypt/Babylone ("Le roi de paille"). Guess I'll be getting those too!
I have fuzzy memories of a series called "Jugurtha" www.finix-comic.de/produkt/jugu... There's also Thorgal, though this one may fall right between fantasy and vikings. m.media-amazon.com/images/I/91Y... Someone below mentioned Vinland Saga and I wasn't sure that fit?
Good gray tones can work wonders. Or gray tones with one color to make elements pop up (my brain draws a blank there for an example, but I know there are some out there). Or two colors with value gradients, changing to emphasize story points.
Pages 178 to 181 The Earth Kingdom can make their own barriers / potholes. #admiralzhao
