There’s a much longer story that I haven’t been detailing here about a return to health and fitness (post-50), but for now indulge me as I share how grateful I feel to be able to run again, in particular to be able to do so with my partner (well, for 1/2 the run!), and in a place like this, my home.
“[W]hen we're together, no one's wondering when the next cell phone's going to come out or when’s the next big sale at fill in the blank retailer. We’re so present because we are inside of primary satisfactions.”*
As I continue my exploration of AT Proto / Bluesky linked apps, today it’s Flashes … with ironic content given this is a repost - including adapted description - of my first post on Instagram, this week, in nearly a year…
Next read, started today on the way into work … been really looking forward to this since hearing about it … yes, for the core focus on businesses, but perhaps even more for applications to public institutions too. @ericries.bsky.social
Evening, yesterday, in the low-angle light and ocean breezes in the back garden. 💚
Always more than good - and too rare - to start a day at work within a place of the work, reconnecting to the mission and meaning. 📍Goldstream Park, W̱SÁNEĆ Territory
GOOD Friday. Nature has third space for connection is an ever deepening theme of personal experience and inquiry. This morning: Hill repeats with the lads. 📍PKOLS
Replicating here a gratitude post shared with an org-spanning group for such things, a little but impactful highlight of my worklife: Grateful to witness this little moment of magic this morning, and to inhabit the rower’s flow, vicariously, for a moment.
Picked this up at the recommendation of the good folks at the amazing Fable Book Parkour in Revelstoke while visiting last week. Breezy, compelling, haunting read.
New office this week = new, longer commute. Made longer still in order to avoid boring standard roadways and make use of Victoria’s brilliant network of painted / protected bike lanes and rails-to-trails routes, including this beautiful final mile over our urban Gorge waterway.
Timeline cleanse. (I’ve wanted to cohabitate with a stellate mag for as long as I can remember. Rehoming this one from a colleague 2 years ago was and remains such a gift. She feels like a portent of positivity to me.) Happy spring.
Back home. Another great start to another Friday, with/in PKOLS for some hill reps with the lads and a solo swim. In company with Nature FTW, again.
Love this, wanted to share, from today's Demo Day, by way of design lead Jane. cc @gordonr.ca

Bonus when said friends arrive bearing beautiful and resonant gifts. 🙏 “The national flower of Ukraine has grown into a symbol of sovereignty and courage—the sunflower. I see it as a lovely symbol of victory over tyranny.” ~ @victorygardenoftomorrow 🌻
Friends who stop by to pick flower and food friends to take to and nourish friends returning home from hospital is the kind of community we want to be part of. ❤️ (Cf. Timely relevance of “I know a guy who grows food and flowers” exchange w/ @ceej.online & @spencerkeys.bsky.social minutes ago. 🤓)
“These days, with the global markets in disarray and the future of the places we ride in peril, we should probably spend less time thinking about the specifics of optimizing our rides or whether we have the perfect bike to ride a specific trail, and just go see what we can do with what we have.”
There are places with which we can build relationships upon only a single visit. People with whom the ties that bind still thrive despite the better - though less good for the absences - part of a lifetime apart. 📍Za Ropa Ranch, Pemberton Meadows, Líl̓wat Nation territory
Resonant read from Justine Hunter in @theglobeandmail.com (where you can actually read it for free! 🙏): www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic....
… I feel disappointed, unsettled and reflective about the state of thinking, creativity and discourse, along multiple contours. So here are some photos taken this morning of flowers my wife and I have cultivated and cared for.
There are few things better than being nearby withnessing people you love in the places, pursuits and experiences that fill them up. Jennie, this morning, prepping a few flowers in our backyard urban farm to share with the community before heading off to work at the actual farm.
Reflections from this morning’s garden walk … Of course the Penhill Watermelon in the first image stops you in your tracks on the morning garden walk, but it’s fun to juxtapose the far less brash strawflowers (last image) that are now emerging one row over … [1/2]
"Beauty awakens the soul to act.” ~ Dante Artifacts from this morning’s garden walk. Happy Tuesday.
Sublime Sunday blooms … and an intention: Carry the disposition on display here through the upcoming week.
