(He/Him) - I'd rather be painting minis. Be excellent to each other. Mask up and keep each other safe. 😷 Hobby Blog:
Knocked out a cheeky little display board for my Raveners. From half-assed idea to varnished in less than 36 hours.
Test piece for 1490 Doom. I’ve been doing a lot with this scheme (pthalo green, wash brown, mid grey, light blue grey) but needed to see how would work with a rattlecan green, craft grey, and oil wash. Very satisfying for maybe 5 min worth of work. Need to set aside a weekend to do the thing.
“Kissed all the color off [her] face” is just breaking my heart as I’m thinking about my golden girl who just keeps getting paler…
At some point I’m going to get used to changing nozzles enough that I just _do it_ when needed instead of putting it off like a colonoscopy. I’ve done it enough times that it’s a fast, efficient, nothingburger but it always feels like it’s going to be the biggest to-do and I put it off too long.
Alan Moore’s _The Great When_, the first of his Long London series. It’s kind of more of the same, 90’s Vertigo magical world-beneath-our-world I’ve read a dozen different times… but I’ve read that sort of thing a dozen different times because I enjoy it.
I expected Abnett’s new double-volume book _Hive_ to be a James A Michener-style location-based generational drama. (It is not.) Many of the best 40K novels are [some book/series/genre] shoehorned into the grim darkness of the far future, and I think like this could be a fun candidate.
Just _look_ at this fucker. Incredible. I believe this is a North American Luna Moth.
How do you leave Mer-man in the bench!? (Mer-man was the first MOTU figure I ever had.)
I haven’t been able to paint all week and it’s been starting to piss me off. Finally got a couple of hours in, but that’s all.
Post an album you’ve listened to 100+ times. Probably a number of good answers (I tend to relisten to a small number of albums) but this is the first that came to mind.
The question is: after I watch MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE this weekend, will I be hyped to play Masters of the Universe: Battleground or will I be REALLY hyped to play Masters of the Universe: Battleground?
Also finished off half a box of Lothlórien warriors, so now I’m ready to run Breaking of the Fellowship in a few weeks!
Weekend Workbench Bullseye, Black Cat, Agent Venom are official, Gwenom and black costume Spidey are prints. (Venom had some print issues and needed a reprint; he’s why I turned to printing.)
Crisis! Marvel Protocol! My Spider-foes starter is fully painted! The whole affiliation is painted save for Doc Ock 1 (who’s primed) and Venom (who cannot be bought and must be printed).
Something I think is essential about a model looking good (or even right) is the center of mass needs to be centered in the base. Maybe I’m weird in this but I think it’s essential. MCP is sometimes _extremely_ bad about this. What’s more important here: Hulk or where Hulk jumped from?
The wages of this weekend: Prowler, Sandman and his Sand Constructs ready for varnish, Kingpin rebased correctly, Shocker well along, and 10 Lothlórien Elves primed and ready for when I’ve finished painting the Spider-Foes starter.
It’s funny how this does not communicate what things look like in, like 3 activations. (Gambit knocks back Mysterio and dazed him. Cyclops approaches. Carnage hops out, fucks up Cyke, rips up Beast around the corner, turns Gambit into gumbo.)
