Gunther von Hagens has died. I went to his Body Works exhibition in London around 2000 or 2001. Human cadavers reduced to constituent structures. Fascinating, and surprisingly not very macabre. Can't help wondering what he had in mind for his own corpse.
Who's eaten all the seafood? Bull shark jaws and sawfish saw frame fresh prawns at a fishmonger in Whitby, Yorkshire. Nom nom nom.
A wooden pole pointing towards, er, 'wooden pole'. Longshaw estate on the border of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire #fingerpostfriday
Underneath the pier at Saltburn-by-the-sea (or Seaburn-by-the-salt, I can never remember) in Yorkshire this week.
Desert X is (I think) the replacement for the old Monster Scrambler. Seriously impressive power and handling, stupidly small dashboard indicator reminders, didn't want to go into neutral. Made me smile very much.
Multistrada V4 is the Italian marque's answer to the all-conquering BMW GS - a bike to go around the world on. Fast, comfy, plenty of power, but a weirdly small gearchange
A somewhat rusty tribute to British engineering excellence, and a sculpture of the Avro Lancaster.
Harvest is underway today, 8 July 2026, in Nottinghamshire. Farmer told me it's "the earliest I've ever known it". #climatecatastrophe #climateemergency #harvest #Nottinghamshire
If Reeves and Starmer had shown a little more of this sass over the last couple of years, they wouldn't be in the mess they are.
Excuse me if I don't have complete faith in the quality of these instructions
Low band of noctilucent clouds seen on the northern horizon just now, 01.40, from Nottinghamshire.
It seems that #pterosaur wings probably had much more varied shapes than previously depicted. Fossils records are few but researchers at Bristol UK just published in Palaeobiology saying that different lifestyles would have meant different wing shapes, just like in modern birds. Makes sense to me!
This is a job ad for a communications role at a UK university. Annual leave! Sick pay! Company pension! (all statutory requirements). Discount on what? Tuition? It's a university.
Nearly bumped into a Monty and Frances at Gardener's World Live. Did my best to be inconspicuously in shot for Monty's opening dialogue. Fame and fortune can't be far behind.
Or this. The pointy bits are known as chisel tips. I'm sure the wonks at Labour HQ who came up with this nonsense have never been down a pit, but I'm equally sure most of those piling on to criticise it also have not.
Because every service station needs an F1 Ferrari on the ceiling. On the A19 in North Yorkshire.
Apparently Doctor Who has gone all woke and gay. Tell it to the Dalek. Pic by me in Matlock, Derbyshire last week. Happy #Pride month. #doctorwho #dalek #matlock #derbyshire
Look at this little beauty, found indoors and now returned to the wild. Small Magpie moth Anania hortulata. Fly, my pretty.
Apparently there's a thing called #fingerpostfriday and I humbly submit this for consideration. A post with its own name, on Exmoor.
Today's AI bollocks, which deservedly found it's way into my spam folder (but is a real thing). Apparently the boots have a gazillion different massage routines or something.
Not just any old ice cream van, a Land Rover ice cream van. Whitby, August 2023, pic by me.
