For generations, dairy farmers have been taking calves from their mothers to get the most milk possible but there is growing evidence that keeping cow and calf together can not only improve animal welfare but provide farm-wide benefits too. My latest in #FarmingScotlandMagazine
When I was a young woman, I lived at Faslane Peace Camp with forays down to Greenham Common Peace Camp. I kept my hair short for hygiene and safety reasons (police would twist long hair when making arrests). I was sometimes challenged in toilets. Women should be able to pee in peace.
This is a solid result for a silly online quiz. Interesting to note the tone of many of the questions. It feels very much like it is seeing what perspectives are on a spectrum between 'Project 2025' and antifa. I wonder how the results will be used? britmonkey.com/2020s-politi...
So...Mu and Skywalker are on the Eurosky Portal @eurosky.social And if I use them, I can edit AND my posts still appear here AND I am still following the same people AND I still can snuffle around AND find interesting accounts AND come back to Bluesky AND have lost nothing (but the usual time)?
Peter Murrell gets his just desserts. 5 years in jail for embezzlement of £400,000. Such odd behaviour when he had money and many of the items were mundane and went unused. The banality coursing through his behaviour adds to the bizarreness of his extreme betrayal of the SNP and its members.
No heatwave here. That is her 'it's wet, let me in the warm room' grumpy face. She very much likes the conservatory.
Ugh, Brexit... Cats are daein awa fine, thanks. Glad for the conservatory during this dreich summer we're havin in Scotland.

After days of the annoying brain fog and headaches I sometimes now experience I'm at the 'my office is tidy, old papers are filed, desk has been straightened out, tea is being made' phase of #writing my next column. Interviews are in, research has been done. Now, I just need to find my words.
Hey @sifa.id, what happens next to take me through steps 2 and 3? I've uploaded both data files from LinkedIn. Does the second, larger one just take time to do it's thing? It's been a few hours now. What comes next?
I've added the @qwant.bsky.social search engine to my phone. Nice and easy, and the option to turn off AI is at the top of the list. Nice. Bye bye, #Google.
Politics UK. I did not know this. I am not sure you can say it is a fake account but it does raise questions about how impartial a news organisation led by a partisan politician can be.
Blue moon. No tweaking or adjustments. Snapped on my phone. Nothing fancy but quietly beautiful at the time.
I'm so proud of my daughter, who dumped her boyfriend of almost a year for saying he would vote Reform. She told him Farage is a misogynist and a racist and - as a mixed race woman - his vote for Reform went directly against her rights and values. Zero tolerance for bigots Make shame normal again.
While being very impressed at the items being caught each time, I have so many health and safety questions...
I interviewed a linguist about the root of the word for the Melvyn Bragg Millennium programme 'Roots of English'. Skulls, sculleries, and sculling all have a Germanic root to do with the shape of the item (skulls) or the action (sculling). The shape of the baskets gave their name to sculleries.
'Sloblin' were playing when we arrived. It took us a minute to realise they were up there having fun. Hobgoblin masks hide their identities (some are teachers). Sloblin is the deranged love child of Jack Black on magic mushrooms and the Oslo death metal scene. Gallus energy which wee ones loved.
Free entertainment in the Bellies Brae car park, where the statue of Bon Scott greets visitors to Kirriemuir. It's always a mixed bag with local bands and pipers playing for the crowd. This year, I ate a super tasty chilli provided by the local scouts brigade while watching 'Sloblin' perform.
For one weekend of the year, #Kirriemuir is the coolest town in Scotland. Superb atmosphere at #Bonfest as everyone fae bufties tae bairns and rock pups turn oot tae celebrate ane of the Wee Red Toon's most famous of sons, #BonScott, on what would have been his 80th birthday #AC/DC #RockNRoll
LinkedIn spent most of last week feverishly suggesting I follow Bari Weiss. Like, ew, no. I have standards.
They certainly were less of a feature by the end of the '70s in the part of Edinburgh where I lived. scotmid.coop/about-us/our...
This is what I am seeing. I have the eurosky handle and password but I guess I need to put in eurosky as the provider?
Everything Zuckerberg touches gives me the ick. LinkedIn today. Naked cynicism. They want me to verify my account. But I'm not prepared to give up access to my genetic code to do so. I am one of the 'most viewed'? Really? In the galaxy? In my postcode? Just how much is our data worth to them?
We have older neighbours who asked our children call them by Mr and Mrs Surname. Other neighbours asked their first names be used - some with or without the 'auntie' and 'uncle' we used to address our neighbours and parents' friends when we were young. When wee, friends' parents were Mr and Mrs.
