The old version had a bunch of rough edges and some areas that weren't evenly measured. The new one is built entirely out of smart objects and repeat-transformations (command shift T). So everything aligned into place evenly without distortion.
I did it. I updated my giant "extreme two point perspective" file. 20400 pixels wide x 10904 pixels tall. 5px, hard round lines, fanned out from the right and the left with .1 degree of separation between them. I use this all the time but the old version was a little raggedy so I updated it. 1.29gb.
New drawings up at Link in Bio today: www.linkinbio.news/p/27-social-...
random image with cool wall cracks, cool painting in the background, beautiful color. I love this kind of limited palette more than most digital comics coloring.
Been doing things like this a lot where I draw motion lines and a word hahaha
We listen to this song about a hundred times a day youtu.be/1H9iAusaA3Q?...
I applied to Off Register Santa Barbara. You only have two more days to apply!! BTW if there's another art or comics or zine festival I should apply to please tell me!!!! By the way I'm gonna have a REALLY cool big new comic in the second half of 2026.
One of mine for Link in Bio! open.substack.com/pub/milkkart... (I should have added “would you like me to rewrite it in the style of a Shakespearean sonnet?”)
iPads are not a good tool for drawing [comics]. If you draw on an iPad I think you could draw better using almost anything else.
You can AMA on this topic if you want! If you are interested in animation BG design or OK KO or whatever. Also - someone, hire me quick!!!
Can I show you something? One of the important rules that art director John Pham drilled into me early on was to keep things super simple! Especially stuff that would be reused a lot! So here you can see some final shelves, and an example (in shadow, in the second pic) of a design i had to slim down
We also included placement and drawings for the aisles and shelves. Looking back I wonder if maybe a top down map is all we needed… perhaps! These never got a ton of use - Probabaly would have if we had more time on our episodic schedule? But we zoomed so our layouts in scenes were simple.
My crazy first assignment for OK KO: Let’s Be Heroes was to draw a full 360-view of the interior of Mr. Gar’s Bodega. One view of each wall, coordinating camera and perspective. The purpose was to create reference for our studio and any animation studio for all action in this space.
I made a pretty big and interesting (I think) “Looking for work” post on Instagram - I show and explain the thinking behind our key designs for OK KO’s main bodega. I’m on Instagram at instagram.com/ryancecil. But oh I’ll tell you on Bluesky now!! I’m looking for work!!!
It is hilarious to see River’s use of my camera/screenshots. Wonder when he’ll call 911.
I bought a new desk lamp, under $20 on Amazon, and I love it. I almost bought a more expensive light and I’m glad I didn’t. This is perfect for me.
