BREAKING: New figures reveal that of 304 people whose age was disputed under the UK-France deal, 94 — almost one in three — were later found to be children, according to the Home Office’s own data.
Last week, Liban* walked through the arrivals gate in the UK to find his uncle waiting for him. Liban was only a child when he was forced to flee Somalia after being abducted from school by an armed group. He escaped, surviving a gunshot wound as he ran for his life.
Two years ago, racist violence spread across towns and cities across the UK. Asylum accommodation was attacked, communities were terrorised and people were targeted because of who they were or where they came from.
Andy Burnham is right about one thing: safe routes are part of the solution. For years, we've heard governments promise that tougher enforcement alone would stop dangerous Channel crossings. It hasn't.
Four people died trying to cross the Channel last night. With family reunion suspended and almost no safe routes for people fleeing conflict, many are left with no choice but to risk dangerous journeys. The new Prime Minister must change course: safe routes save lives.
Hey Andy Burnham! A new Prime Minister means a chance to choose a different path. For too long, refugees have been used as political scapegoats while hostile rhetoric has divided communities & harmful policies have made it harder for people seeking safety to rebuild their lives.
With the final to come this weekend, players who took part in this World Cup were born into displacement. Behind some of football’s biggest names are stories of families forced to flee. But most refugees won’t become professional footballers—and they shouldn’t have to in order to deserve safety.
Two years ago today, the Rwanda scheme was scrapped. It proved harmful policies can be challenged and defeated. But the fight isn’t over. Refugees still face barriers, families remain separated, and safe routes are far too limited.
The High Court has ruled the Government’s suspension of Refugee Family Reunion is lawful. This is devastating. More children will remain separated from their parents, and more families left waiting to be reunited. Thank you to all who supported this legal challenge. Refugee families deserve better
Today, as people come together to celebrate Pride, we stand in solidarity with LGBTQ+ people seeking safety around the world. Many are forced to flee persecution, criminalisation and violence simply for being who they are. Yet without safe routes, many are left with impossible choices.
BREAKING: A new immigration Bill was introduced this week and points to a grim direction for refugees. Behind the headlines: familiar hostility, tighter restrictions. As talk turns to football “coming home”, we’re thinking of those pushed further from safety and family.
Keir Starmer's resignation marks the end of a government that promised a new approach to asylum. Initially, some of the most harmful policies of the previous government were abandoned. But the wider shift many refugees had hoped for never came.
After we asked supporters to send messages to families separated by war and persecution, we received hundreds of responses in just a few days. This is who we are. Today, on World Refugee Day, we're sharing some of those messages. Because community is stronger than hate. 🧡 #WorldRefugeeDay
Sometimes a speech reminds you exactly why this work matters. Our Youth & Lived Experience Participation Officer, Abdulrahman, spoke at the Choose Love Summer Shop this week, sharing his story and reflecting on the power of family, belonging and community.
The UK has committed £660 million to tougher border enforcement. Under that deal, specialist French police units deployed on the Channel coast can use crowd-control tactics including water cannon, tear gas and batons. It is cruel, inhumane and beneath the values we should uphold.
Sometimes courage looks like crossing borders to find safety. Sometimes it looks like a hug at the end of the journey. Sometimes, it looks like finally being together again. #RefugeeWeek
Courage isn't always loud. This Refugee Week, we're sharing a poem by Ilsa, one of our graduate Young Leaders. After spending years navigating the asylum system, Ilsa now campaigns for safe routes and encourages other young people with lived experience to use their voices.
This Refugee Week, we’re celebrating Courage. The refugees Safe Passage works with show extraordinary courage every day as they navigate separation and uncertainty. Stand in solidarity by sharing a message today: bit.ly/3QL9jY1

A man was seriously injured in a horrific knife attack in Belfast. The violence he experienced was shocking and inexcusable. Since then, homes have been set alight, families have been forced to flee, and people have been targeted because of their race or where they come from.

A system meant to protect is failing children. Expanding safe routes like Refugee Family Reunion would help children reach their loved ones safely, legally and with dignity. Children need safe routes, NOT detention.
No one would risk their lives on dangerous journeys in flimsy boats unless they had no other choice. The Government could stop more Channel crossings by opening safe routes. But instead, they're ramping up harsh measures and tightening borders. Safe routes save lives.
As Ramadan comes to a close 🌙 We’re thinking of our friends and supporters celebrating, and of those still longing to be with their loved ones. May this time bring peace, safety and moments of togetherness.
No child should have to risk their life to find safety. But nearly 4,900 children crossed the Channel last year - likely an underestimate as some are wrongly treated as adults on arrival. With Refugee Family Reunion suspended, children are being left without safe routes to loved ones.
Our lawyer Cate explains why we are challenging the Government over the suspension of Refugee Family Reunion and what this case could mean for families separated by war and persecution. Behind every legal argument are real people waiting for the chance to be together again safely.
