Being in the ocean swimming, or on the ocean racing our sailboat is where I’m happiest. We’re a sr. couple who were recently adopted by a free-ranging calico cat that we adore, she is the queen of our property. Work for J.A. Schmit - Architect in Kaimuki.
I did not know this photo would come out so differently from what I was looking at thru my phone this morning. The three women in the water offer a sense of normalcy but the sky looks threatening.
South shore is getting a big swell right now, my turnaround point, the lighted buoy, gently bobs around.
Smash face. Cat is getting her zzz’s in. Busy night hunting geckos, mice, rats, crickets…
Before, during and after photos of my beach walk and trash pick up day.
Photo 1 of the morning sunrise as I started my return leg on the beach. Low tide this morning. Photo 2...looks like the sand crabs are creating their own city! Photo 3 is of my trash bag. I look at beach walking to pick up trash to be as relaxing as weeding.
A gradual procession of my beach walk: a morning regular in his chair, feet in the water. the pinkish-orange sky as I was finishing my walk. my gallon ziplock bag filled with trash of all kinds. after washing my feet off, the line of fishermen in the water. Tomorrow and Sunday, I swim!
A gorgeous early morning walk in the beach, huge box jellyfish and my gallon-sized Ziplok bag filled with trash.
My morning trash haul, this was just at the waterline. Turned around to face East and caught my favorite subject, palm trees against a sunrise sky.
Couple of photos from my beach walk as I picked up trash (not too much today). 1. Look at all the sand crab piles, they were almost all the way down the beach. 2. Pink clouds as I walked back towards the parking area. Absolutely gorgeous morning! Tomorrow, I swim and I know it will be heavenly!
WHY does this even have to happen? Nine boats to be sunk, no mention that I saw regarding the removal of all fluids from said boats. But, my main questions remains...WHY? And, why sink them here in Hawaii???
Decided to walk all the way down the beach this morning, fishermen (and possibly fisher-women!) hoping to catch dinner. Gorgeous morning today, calm water conditions. Starting tomorrow, will be carrying a trash bag so I can pick up whatever's not supposed to be on the beach (trash).
Tall mast of a 130-ft yacht, the IBM building not decked out in Pride and an 8-legged sand sculpture on the beach this morning.
Couple of photos from this morning's walk. Serene conditions inside the break where swimmers, SUPr's and everyone else doing their thing in the water. Outside the break the waves are still pumping!
It’s Saturday, a perfect day to sleep until Dinnertime! Oh wait….that’s everyday!
Photos of a very low tide this morning. You can see the dirty underside of the marker buoy in the swimming lane. The coral “pathway” exposed, leading to a surf break. Fisherpeople needing to cast further out to avoid getting snagged.
Dad, you would've been 104 years-old today and when I look at this photo, it's like you're still here with us. You and Mom, I will always miss so much. Especially now.
A couple of photos from this morning’s walk, surf has increased from yesterday and the Moon is still amazing in our sky.
Couple photos from this morning’s walk. Tomorrow is swim day and I’m stoked!
So, the Cat has been quite the hunter today, this morning she brought in this huge male rat, and just now she brought us a huge female rat. They must be foraging from all the rain we had a couple weeks ago.
A quick photo as I walked the “home stretch” back to my car of the early morning beach goers, all doing their own thing. I love mornings on the beach.
BF is in the bedroom eating his turkey sandwich, trying to avoid the Cat. She’s sliding her paws under the door, sniffing the air coming from under the door and rolling all around. She’s a turkey sandwich whore.
Escaped another one. The 1960 M9.5 earthquake called “The Great Chilean Earthquake in 1960” threw a tsunami at Hawaii, 15 hours later it slammed into Hilo with 35’ waves and resulted in 61 deaths. Go visit the Tsunami Musuem in downtown Hilo, you won’t forget it.
No sailboat racing tonight, Honolulu is the barely-there blue dot underneath the thunderstorm we’re going thru right now.
OH! Did I, by chance, breathe a bit too loudly and wake you, your highness?
Happy Mom’s Day, Mom! My daughter sent me this photo today, I don’t think I’ve seen this one before. Mom must’ve been younger than 20 and it looks like it could be May Day with her lei. I miss her so much.
I walked the length of Ala Moana beach this morning due to box jellies (we only saw 3 on the sand), but it felt good to walk in the sand to work those tiny muscles in my feet. Some photos from this morning:
