oop nevermind doesn't fit the accessibility text box HAHA ironically tl;dr this started out as trying to mock up a quant noteskin that should theoretically be more colorblind-friendly than many that are readily available + for years want make feature-complete notesk—

[today:]

deleted and redrafted 3x because the video was too low quality to see anything at first and then things weren't attaching correctly

today in Noteskin Adventures:

- I redesigned the overall shape such that details so minor they looked like mistakes now look like details, in a way meant to display more of the primary fill colors of the notes

- I gave lifts a more distinct shape, and a noteskin-unique color as their cells fill in with the beat

- I created mines made up of multiple moving parts, with quantization colors, which took some trial and error

once you define in the noteskin's `metrics.ini` that every so often along a texture's y axis marks a new quantization division, *that applies to EVERY texture associated with the element*

and once I defined that to have the little colored dots on the mines match the colors of the arrows, the parts behind those dots all became misaligned and started rotating around points other than their centers

I tried duplicating all the textures in the same form of array as those dots with the same dimensions, but that wasn't enough — I had to stack the first texture called for in `Down Tap Mine.lua` [the largest rotating texture, here] *without gaps of transparency in the .png*, and upon testing that, despite not fixing the other textures in the same way, they're now aligned

I initially wanted to have little arrows underneath the mine pointing outward in four directions diagonally but that'd create a bunch more unnecessary bits to draw and probably too much visual noise... and I couldn't figure out how the relevant rotate command should work, even though I did manage to make them `bob` on the y axis at about the right magnitude

I'm glad that we live in a time where you can buy cheap RGB LED lightbulbs that can be set to any color around a color wheel via phone app and said phone app lets you set up Scenes that set multiple bulbs at once across different rooms to saved settings and said app also comes with a widget so you can put buttons for different scenes on your home screen and that I Assumed ~this would be a thing and actually ordered such bulbs and thought to check for a widget since I normally never use widgets and now my bedroom has a status indicator

[this is mainly for communicating different needs as a physically disabled person but is also worthwhile as a musician who wants quiet surroundings for recordings and as a person who wants privacy etc.]

ultimately, many people do naturally want to gravitate toward a curated experience where they don't have to see things that run contrary to what they would prefer to think of as unshakably correct... at the given point in time that they would make a judgement call on someone, which will mechanically persist beyond the memory of the judged's offenses and general existence by the one passing judgement, if they even care to make such calls themselves, rather than accepting any casualties who don't belong on blocklists they put faith in... as both parties continue to develop their perspectives independently.

god I miss cohost.org, and its lack of image compression, and its 200,000-character-limit post composer that allowed for mixing of markdown with css and html, and its support for audio, and post editing, and other users posting such things as interactive svg games and navigable 3D environments made with css. today I learned that tyramine is banned in Florida

the beginning of tyramine's Wikipedia article, saying leaving food out at room temperature (spoilage) increases the level of tyramine present, and listing many foods with "considerable amounts" — basically anything aged or fermented (cheese, processed meats, sourdough, beer...), and including chocolate.

the "Legal status" section acknowledging Florida is, unfortunately, real, and concluding with "Florida's total ban on the substance may prove difficult to enforce."
