New post on my journey into #indiepublishing over on Substack for your consideration. samanthabwriter.substack.com/p/going-indi...
I hate sunscreen. It feels disgusting. But I live in a sunny place and I've had this pale, freckled skin for half a century now, so it not as resilient as it once was. Luckily, you can buy awesome, bright silly hats and mushroom patterned sunsleeves and amuse your neighbors while you walk the dogs.
In other things that amuse me, here are two pictures of me matching two of my books in my @svahausa.bsky.social dresses. Horror anthologies from @cronegirlspress.bsky.social with covers by @lynnehansenart.bsky.social I guess the things I love end up on my pages and on my body. #AuthorLife
There can be beauty in the strangest places--this is the wall over the bathtub in my bathroom, but it looks like the portal to another world.
Another Substack post about my journey into Indie Publishing. This one with numbers about sales the first six months. substack.com/home/post/p-... #writerlife #indiepublishing
Y'all. I made THE BEST cookies. See that last line of the recipe? "Let cool slightly before eating them all." That's not humor. That's a warning. I had to give some to my daughter to save myself.
I'm staying indoors this weekend. Wildflowers like me seriously wilt when the thermometer reads in triple digits. I'd never seen Point Break, so I fixed that, and what better follow up could there be than Hot Fuzz. What should I watch next in the fun-popcorn category? #movies #keepingcool
It's alive! Sorry, I couldn't resist a Frankenstein joke. My story "Adam of the North" is out today in this magazine, and you can get your own copy for $5.99. I hope you will! It's one of my favorite stories I've ever written. sallyportmagazine.com/2026-july-is... #shortstory #frankenstein
Thanks @greethewriter.bsky.social and #HorrorWritersChat for another lovely dip into the darkness. I've been a busy girl this month, so I've got a few new stories out there in the world: 2 horror, one fantasy, and one romance. You can get the details on my site: dangerouswhenbored.com
That's a tough one #HorrorWritersChat ! But I am really fond of evil children. When people generally known for innocence, optimism, and energy are still, dark, and dangerous? Chills me every time.
Sounds like one of my favorite poems: "One Art" by Elizabeth Bishop.
For #IWSG today, we're talking about what we'd like to see change in the publishing industry. Me? I'm the little guy with a slingshot aiming at a the giant: samanthadunawaybryant.blogspot.com/2026/07/iwsg...
In an unlikely confluence of events, projects I’ve been working on for the past six months are all coming out within one month of each other. So this is the summer of Samantha‘s stories!
Book birthday alert! What happens when a single mom facing empty nest meets a widower who doesn't believe lightning can strike twice are thrust into each other's worlds? If it's up to Roscoe, they become a family. #NewRelease #GenXRomance
Since the first time I read Frankenstein, I’ve wondered what happened to Adam after he jumped off that ship at the end and ran off into the Arctic. Check out the story to see what I imagined for him. #NewStory #Frankenstein
Thank you @erynmccee.bsky.social and #HorrorWritersChat You always leave me inspired! You can find my short horror work on my website dangerouswhenbored.com/collections/... or better yet, come to Quail Ridge next week (July 1, 6:30p.m.) to hear me read with my HWA friends!
Weaponizing someone else's underestimation is a recurring theme in my work. It's so much fun to show that dangerous things come in a variety of packages. #HorrorWritersChat
Looking for alternatives to Prime Day? Consider Bookshop. They're doing free shipping during Prime Day…and they're a whole lot less evil. bookshop.org/shop/Dangero... #primedayalternatives #supportindie
I'm famous today! Read my interview with Bibliobean books (and while you're at it--consider buying my books from this woman-owned, independent bookstore). bibliobeanbooks.com/2026/06/23/a... #authorinterview #feelingfamous #independentbookstores
The shipping gods were on my side for once! This Sapphic horror collection with my short story in it got here today, and I have a booth at a pride event tomorrow!
I recently read Monster, She Wrote and my TBR trebled from that alone. I already knew Elizabeth Gaskell for her social novel North and South, but now I'm a fan of her horror, too! #HorrorWritersChat
Just ran across this bit of sillyness from the Carolina Theatre's 100th birthday celebration and I love it. We have the best dates there. Just got home from seeing Victor/Victoria which I had never seen. #DatingMyHusband
I do the bulk of my reading as audiobooks these days, both for accessibility and convenience. And the right marriage of a narrator and a story makes ALL the difference. That's why my own work will only be available with human narrators. #humanvoicesonly
Thanks #HorrorWritersChat You're always a dark spot in my afternoon--just the reprieve I need. I had a new short story come out in It Ends With Her, a Sapphic horror anthology, just a couple of days ago. dangerouswhenbored.com/books/it-end... Hope you'll check it out.
Hi #HorrorWritersChat I'm Samantha, a multi-genre writer who loves writing short form horror stories. On the day of my birth America was jamming out to "Joy to the World" by Three Dog Night, which was a sign of how I'd be able to hold onto optimism in the face of adversity. LOL.
Did my first romance centered book event yesterday at a winery in South Carolina. It was a joy to see the variety of types of stories under the umbrella all in one pavillion. Romance is a different crowd than my horror and fantasy peeps, but they were lovely!
Thanks @greethewriter.bsky.social for hosting another great #HorrorWritersChat As always, my TBR, TBW, and TBL are now overflowing again. But if folks want MORE they can check out my three spring/summer anthology releases: dangerouswhenbored.com/collections/...
