It's Canada Day! In honour of the celebration, here's an old drawing of Canada Jack, a wartime hero from the 'Canadian Whites', comics printed without colour during war shortages of US comics. Created for the publisher Educational Projects, by George Menendez Rae in 1942. Drawn in 2009.

Thank you very much, @bobdeis.bsky.social . I thought it turned out pretty well, all things considered. I sorta f'd up the colouring on the Frankenstein follow-up, but I think the inks turned out pretty well. I didn't go for the Mignola style on Frankie.

Some old barbarian and monster drawings from around 2018. The first, "The Trap" is pencil on 11x14 Strathmore Bristol and the other two are pencil on 8.5x11 bond paper.

Herb was my intro to comics as well. Hulk #150 by Archie Goodwin, Herb Trimpe, and John Severin. That's the book that made me a collector and fan.

A couple oldies, Kronk the Barbarian from 2016, and John Carter of Mars from 2011. Brush and ink, ink wash, and probably some marker here and there.

Some more sketch cards from back in 2016. A very tough job. The pay is very low, supposedly mitigated by the "Artist Proofs", extra cards the artist can sell for better money. Unfortunately, I was never able to sell more than a few of those. Brush and ink, marker, and coloured inks on card.

Could it be this Joe Jusko painting? It is a clear homage to the Rockwell piece, right down to the signature. Not Conan in the boy's dream image, but John Carter of Mars.
