The Goldfinch of Carel Fabritius. It is a favourite, but it evokes sense of loss that is difficult to quantify. The loss of freedom, ofc, but also the loss of life and of treasures, so suddenly wiped out. I've seen the original twice and have a copy on the wall.
If the hair, or whatever, is distinctive then I would still call it a portrait even if the face is not shown.

It's #WorldRefugeeDay. Here is the obverse of a medal I made for the British Art Medal Society in 2015. It's cast in bronze and shows two boys in the port of Augusta, Sicily, who had been rescued at sea.
Exactly so, and in particular the parents ... which was why I was really slow to show interest.

The King. I met a Eurasian eagle-owl, a Grand-duc d'Europe, in the 1970s that had been shot but then rescued and cared for. It stood tall and proud in its cage as it waited to be fed. That Grand-duc was the general inspiration behind all the abstract bird sculpture I made over the years. #Chess
I think you are correct. I named this camera Froglet after those little folks, back in 2019.
I'm imagining your balcony must have a window, in which case a decal might be discouraging.

The Queen has arrived. Corvids are recognised as the smartest of birds, good at problem solving and tool making. They show both analytical skills and empathy, perhaps appropriate for the strongest and most versatile piece on the board.

Nice. When I bought my M2 I picked up a cheapish Elmar-C 90/4 and gave it a lot of use. Somebody weariring a Leica R nodded approvingly at me when he spotted how I shot this. LOL.
I just checked. The mirror installation was marked as 28/2/34 ... a Wednesday, as it happens! The Tessar has been excellent, boosted by its PC flash connection snuck into the socket normally used for a cable release.
Nobody expects ... the next piece. The bishop was inspired by a New Zealand flightless parrot (a kākāpō) and Orson Welles (as Cardinal Wolsey). The kākāpō won out. I've not used Chavant's Le Beau Touché Medium grade modelling clay till now (only the softer white) but it is bloody marvelous stuff.
