They’re actually surprisingly spacious, no squishing of shoes at all. And the middle divider can actually be placed in one of three positions for variation. I honestly could have gone with the two-high one rather than the three-high one. This is what I got (@ IKEA NZ): www.ikea.com/nz/en/p/biss...
And not bad speeds … blue the AppleTV and black the office Mac. I also went for a walk to Daily Bread today to get a fresh loaf of bread, stopped by the store to get ingredients for lunches for the week, went to Bunnings to pick up a couple small things, and finished my lectures for the week too.
Ok, beer earned … IKEA shoe cabinet built and installed in the hall next to the entrance, networking switch installed and connected to Apple TV in the lounge and my Mac in the office, and then cable management done along the skirtings.
It was SO grotty carpet, absolutely abused rental carpet. As I said, still need to redo the kitchen, but this is what it looked like just before I moved in after the repaint and floors were done post-settlement.
Kinda low-key love this view of my office and a bit of the lounge in my new apartment …
Shoe cabinet for the hallway near the entrance :)
Who needs a car? IKEA shopping on the train with my trusty collapsible handcart :)
Did my biggest ever IKEA build today … that was seriously a lot of work, but really pleased with the outcome.
It was just so easy to ride, and I absolutely think it’s a looker …
Just thinking back on the tour I did through Limburg, Belgium, and the Ardennes back in May on a 2025 Honda NC750X DCT and how much I loved that bike. Like seriously, if I weren’t riding electric nowadays this honestly would be the bike I’d get. Even the right colour. Hands down. #motosky
Proud of my majority neo-luddite status ... britmonkey.com/2020s-politi...
That was just a snippet, I will be putting together a longer video soon (just moved so that's my priority right now). But yes, this trip just wetted my appetite for touring Europe even more so (just avoid the Autobahn is all, so boring). But so so loved the 2025 NC750X DCT, was so much fun.
Street-side AC destination charging in Tilburg down just regular residential streets ... and you can see simply how damn much of it there is there (screenshot from PlugShare, and most of those locations have two ports) and Tilburg is a small city with under 250k population.
My June 2026 from @1secondeveryday.bsky.social … arriving back in Aotearoa New Zealand from the Netherlands 😭, my last month of research leave, and my birthday … just quietly doing work, the World Cup playing, and having winter really set in. Was a rather quiet month in contrast to previous.
Btw, some of you may miss this … on Quay Street, just off the intersection with Britomart Place, is a monument. It’s a commemoration of the spot where Ngāti Whātua Örākei signed an agreement to provide land for the establishment of Auckland. A spot the Crown called ‘Point Britomart’
Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland shining in the winter sun …
A gift for my bisexual fam from your resident lesbian this Northern Hemisphere Pride Month. Conservative media needs to stop continuing to promise us a good time …
I would love to see something like this road …
Friend in the Hutt was sending me pics of some low level flooding happening at his warehouse workshop and his flat also in the Hutt, with more rain to come ... I looked it up, and yeah, Lower Hutt has a bit to come.
Like the first time I opened a plastic bottle up after getting back to NZ I almost dropped it due to the cap not being attached.
Singing along with the Te Reo Māori version …
Sunset walk down to my apartment from my bus stop, Mercury & Venus visible …
