A Nine Night For Noxxy, written by Mercedes Deacon, is a beautiful story about a young girl coming to terms with the loss of a pet with the help of her family and a Jamaican traditional sendoff. So happy to have helped bring this to life with the team at Ladybird. Shoutout to my AD Sally Mullaney!

If you see this, qrp a monster! A somewhat old hippocampus illustration

When inspiration strikes, you gotta take it! In Natee's beautiful Jersey tiger moth photo, I saw the potential for a really cool outfit. I had to draw some version of it!

Had a lovely offline birthday yesterday 😊 Went strawberry picking at a u-pick farm to get the best variety (Hood) to go with the cheesecake I made. The sauce I made the day before with goumi and strawberries (+ a few honeyberries) from my garden. Ate great food, and finally watched The Green Knight!

I really wanted to do a #mermay, but idk time keeps slipping by and now it's the last day of May. So even though I do need to pause now to get some other stuff done, I'll post the w.i.p. and hopefully finish it up later. Here's a mermaid that's based on the 'yellow longnose butterflyfish' 🐠

Squirrels keep eating ALL of my red strawberries (they leave the white alpine ones alone thankfully) before they can even ripen, so I made some decoys out of clay and painted them. I'm hoping this teaches them that strawberries are actually yucky and they shouldn't bother anymore 😞

He does specifically say in the article that he's fine with it as long as it's clearly labelled. Still really disrespectful to authors to give ai "written" books a pass and credibility by selling them alongside real books.

“We have 300,000 titles across all of our stores,” Daunt, who became the CEO of Barnes & Noble in 2019, added. “Do we think that some of those may be AI? The chances are that they are, but we’re not really conscious of them.”

He also argued that in this moment, it doesn’t seem like those AI-generated books “are going to get much commercial traction.”

“So I think it’s something that one should treat with common sense and acceptance, but not allow anything to masquerade [as],” he explained. He said that the “clarity around who the author is and whether they’re a real person” is what’s crucial.

17. Doodle 18. Everyday Life 19. Fruit 20. Critter - This one was a commission based on a drawing I had already done. The commissioner asked me to interpret the opossum as this specific comic panel from Watchmen. Such a fun gig! I enjoyed getting to style match and make something silly :)

12. Cosy All caught up!

Decided to do a bit of sketching outside, now that the poppies are blooming 😊 Had to pack it up before I could break out the watercolours though. It started becoming overcast and the poppies were closing up. Bonus pics: cute mushroom season in the garden! Also tons of arugula pollen *everywhere*.
