I have too much to say on this matter and statistically like 3 of you ever care about what I say on the internets (fair) so I'm shoving it in a notepad and callin it a day

My explanation for bsky's failures, abridged to 2000 characters (sad):

1. The site fucking SUCKS bro. It has like 40% the critical features that keep people on X or old twitter. No private accounts, extremely barebones dm system (well... at least it works in 2026 I guess?), these are issues that are even frustrating friends of mine that successfully switched here! And now we have the site crashing and running super unstable recently... the devs are completely detaching themselves from the community and I think this is really bad for the site's health.

2. Social media crossposting. If you're an artist who NEEDS to pay bills you put your eggs in whatever baskets get you the necessary bucks, end of story. *That is usually not one basket unless it's super reliable.* I especially have 0 empathy to anyone who dismisses this point as if you don't NEED money to survive, and maybe, just maybe, Xitter just happens to get them the clients they need. That is coming from a position of PRIVILEGE and you need to understand that.

3. Bsky's userbase takes some of the blame too. I feel like I'm going looney tooney insane trying to explain that "shaming" people who use Xitter is just going to drive them away from HERE. In fact, the only realistic way to get people ON here more is to be popular enough and be super methodical about giving blueskiers early access to your stuff, or just jump ship entirely if you have the ***privilege*** to do that and go from there. Most people simply won't get that luxury.

4. Non-English media access. This is a very unfortunate issue with bsky but the site is pretty much 90% English speakers and like, apparently 9% Brazil because of failures on Twitter's end lol. If I want to access any real news on the 7+ different Japanese things I keep track of, Japanese mutuals, not to mention a whole host of other media I keep tabs on, I have to at least keep Twitter on lurk mode. Sorry cuz!
